Alfred M. Cook
Alfred M. Cook (October 4, 1850 – January 30, 1921) was an American farmer, businessman, and politician. Born in Lloydtown, Ontario, Canada, Cook moved with parents to Calumet County, Wisconsin and went to high school in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He moved to Unity, Wisconsin and was a farmer and in the lumber business. He served as chairman of the Brighton, Wisconsin Town Board and as director of the local high school in Unity. Cook was the postmaster in Unity. In 1901, Cook served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Republican. He died in Marshfield, Wisconsin Marshfield is a city in northwest Wood and southwest Marathon counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Lloydtown is a hamlet located in King Township, Ontario, Canada. It is often associated with the surrounding and larger Schomberg, though it has its own unique characteristics and heritage. History The Lloydtown Rebellion of 1837 was part of the Upper Canada Rebellion. During the 1830s, Lloydtown was well known as a site for reform sympathisers, and regular meetings were hosted by Jesse Lloyd. On November 24, 1837, a final meeting to review plans was held between Lloyd and William Lyon Mackenzie. Hoping to take advantage of the departure of troops to Lower Canada in response to the Lower Canada Rebellion, Mackenzie had planned to seize a government arms cache in York on December 7. Calumet County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 52,442. The county seat is Chilton. The county was created in 1836 (then in the Wisconsin Territory) and organized in 1850.
