Alfred Gray (Kansas Politician)
Alfred Gray (December 5, 1830 – January 23, 1880) was an American politician from Kansas. He served as a state legislator and as Secretary of the state Board of Agriculture. Gray was born to England, English parents in Evans, New York. His father died when he was 14, after which he worked to support his mother; after his mother died when he was 19, he enrolled in law school. He attended Albany Law School, earning a degree in 1855, and then entering law practice. In 1857, however, he moved to Quindaro, Kansas, and took up farming. He was soon elected to the Kansas Legislature and served for a time. During the American Civil War, Civil War he served in the Union Army, and returning to Kansas politics, held a series of high-profile agricultural posts. He was a director in the Kansas State Agricultural Society from 1866 until it was merged into the Kansas State Board of Agriculture. Alfred Gray (mathematician)
Alfred Gray (October 22, 1939 – October 27, 1998) was an American mathematician whose main research interests were in differential geometry. He also made contributions in the fields of complex variables and differential equations. Short biography Alfred Gray was born in Dallas, Texas to Alfred James Gray & Eloise Evans and studied mathematics at the University of Kansas. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1964 and spent four years at University of California, Berkeley. From 1970–1998 he was a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. He died in Bilbao, Spain of a heart attack while working with students in a computer lab at Colegio Mayor Miguel de Unamuno around 4 AM, on October 27, 1998. Alf Gray
Alfred Gray (13 August 1910 – 1974) was an English footballer who made 54 appearances in the Football League playing for Torquay United and Lincoln City. He played as a wing half or centre half. Life and career Gray was born in Westhoughton, Lancashire. He began his career with his local team, Daisy Hill, and was on the books of Oldham Athletic before making his Football League debut in the Third Division South with Torquay United in 1932. By the end of the season, he and full-back Jack Tennant had attracted the attention of First Division Liverpool, whom they joined for an undisclosed but reportedly "very substantial" fee, to include a friendly match. Gray never appeared for Liverpool's first team, and he signed for Lincoln City, newly relegated from the Second Division, in June 1934.
