Alfred Dennis
Alfred Hugh Dennis (31 July 1924 – 15 December 2019) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1959 to 1962, representing the electorate of Blacktown. He was elected in 1959 as a Liberal for the typically safe Labor seat, but resigned to sit as an independent in 1962. Dennis was born in Bondi, and was educated at Blacktown Public School. He served with the Second Australian Imperial Force in the South Pacific during World War II, and trained at Yanco Experimental Farm after repatriation. He operated a dairy farm near Richmond, while also working as a farming contractor. He was chairman of the Windsor District Milk Zone Dairymen's Council, and a member of the New South Wales executive of the Primary Producers' Union. He was an alderman of the Windsor Council from 1956 until his election to parliament in 1959. Blacktown is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. The current member is 's Stephen Bali, who replaced former Labor leader John Robertson at a by-election in October 2017. Blacktown is a 33.03 km² urban electorate in Sydney's outer west, taking in the suburbs of Blacktown, Doonside, Kings Park, Marayong, Woodcroft and parts of Bungarribee, Lalor Park, Quakers Hill and Seven Hills. 1962 New South Wales State Election
The 1962 New South Wales state election was held on 3 March 1962. It was conducted in single member constituencies with compulsory preferential voting and was held on boundaries created at a 1961 redistribution. The election was for all of the 94 seats in the Legislative Assembly. Redistribution A redistribution of electoral boundaries was undertaken in 1961 based on that year's Australian Census. The redistribution reflected the continuing relative population shifts from the Country and Eastern suburbs of Sydney to Western Sydney and the Central Coast. David Bruce Cowan AM (15 January 1926 – 7 April 2011) was an Australian politician and Minister of the Crown in the cabinets of Tom Lewis and Sir Eric Willis. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 14 years from 6 November 1965 until his resignation on 29 August 1980 and then for 13 years in the Australian House of Representatives for Lyne for the Country Party of Australia and its successors, the National Country and then National Parties. Electoral District Of Oxley (New South Wales)
Oxley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. History Oxley was created in 1920, with the introduction of proportional representation, replacing Gloucester and Raleigh, and elected three members. It was named after John Oxley. In 1927 it was divided into the single-member electorates of Oxley, Gloucester and Raleigh. In 1988 it was abolished and replaced by Port Macquarie. It was recreated in 1991. Oxley is one of three original (post 1927 redistribution) electorates to have never been held by the Labor Party, the other districts being Tamworth and Upper Hunter. The National Party has held the seat since its current incarnation was created in 1991.
