''Alfie'' is a 1963 stage play written by Bill Naughton. Developed from a radio drama, the original London production starred John Neville, and the Broadway transfer starred Terence Stamp. The play recounts the life of a working-class London ladies man, Alfie Elkins, and the many women who pass through his life. The play was adapted into a film twice, a 1966 version starring Michael Caine and a 2004 version starring Jude Law, with the location switched to Manhattan and the character being an ex-pat Cockney. Alfie (1966 Film)
''Alfie'' is a 1966 British comedy-drama film directed by Lewis Gilbert and starring Michael Caine. An adaptation by Bill Naughton of his own 1966 novel and 1963 play of the same name, the film was released by Paramount Pictures. ''Alfie'' tells the story of a young womanising man who leads a self-centred life, purely for his own enjoyment, until events force him to question his uncaring behaviour, his loneliness and his priorities. He cheats on numerous women, and despite his confidence towards women, he treats them with disrespect and refers to them as "it", using them for sex and for domestic purposes. Alfie frequently breaks the fourth wall by speaking directly to the camera narrating and justifying his actions. His words often contrast with or totally contradict his actions. The film had its World Premiere at the Plaza Theatre in the West End of London on 24 March 1966. A box office success, it received critical acclaim and is an influential part of British cinema. Plot ...

Alfie (2013 Film)
''Alfie'' is a 2013 Indian short film written and directed by Dr. Thomas Mathai. Plot summary Alfie is a failing actress and a junkie lost in filth. One fine afternoon, she and her new lover travel to a remote waterfall inside the woods. Tired with all the walking, she soon falls asleep by the waterfall and the dream that follows is bizarre, horrifying, where she is bound up tight in a shady dungeon and tortured mercilessly. Visually reminiscent of a Rembrandt, ‘Alfie’ tells a surreal tale structured uniquely to simulate a dream experience, immersed in Freudian eroticism, sexual deviance and biblical notion of Baptism. Where as it has a second meaning also that is somehow pointing to a fact that women are still objectified by men. The Man on the screen is shown dominating which before climax is tried by women too. But the man oppresses her and tortures her. During her last breath she was in her wonderland of dreams and there what she witnessed was only the beauty of natur ...

Alfie (Burt Bacharach Song)
"Alfie" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David to promote the 1966 film ''Alfie''. The song was a major hit for Cilla Black (UK) and Dionne Warwick (US). Background Although Bacharach has cited "Alfie" as his personal favorite of his compositions, he and Hal David were not eager to write a song to promote the film ''Alfie'' (a release from Paramount Pictures, which owned Famous Music) when approached by Ed Wolpin of the Composers' Guild. David thought the title character's name pedestrian: "Writing a song about a man called 'Alfie' didn't seem too exciting at the time." The composers agreed to submit an "Alfie" song if they could complete it within three weeks. Bacharach, in California, was inspired by a rough cut of the film about the Cockney womanizer played by Michael Caine. Bacharach felt that: "with 'Alfie' the lyric had to come first because it had to say what that movie was all about". He arranged for David – on Long Island – to receive a script of the film ...

Alfie (Lily Allen Song)
"Alfie" is a song by British recording artist Lily Allen from her debut studio album, ''Alright, Still'' (2006). Written by Allen and Greg Kurstin, the song was released as the fourth and final single (music), single from the album, on 5 March 2007, by Regal Recordings. In the United Kingdom, it was marketed as a A-side and B-side, double A-side single, along with "Shame for You". While the melody incorporates a sample of Sandie Shaw's "Puppet on a String (Sandie Shaw song), Puppet on a String", the lyrics directly describe Allen's real life younger brother (aged 20 at the time of the single's release), actor Alfie Allen, criticising him for laziness. Contemporary critics gave the song mixed reviews, some complimenting the production, while others considered it fell flat as the album's last song. The single peaked inside the top 20 of the charts in New Zealand and on the UK Singles Chart, where it became her third single to do so. The accompanying music video portrayed Allen's b ...
