Alf Egan
Alfred Egan (3 April 1910 – 21 January 1962) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton and North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Edward Egan, and Margaret Egan, née Farrell, Alfred George Egan was born into the Gunditjmara indigenous community at Wallacedale, near Condah, in Western Victoria, on 3 April 1910. Although his brother, Allan Edmund Egan (1914–1951), was cleared from "Melbourne Boys" to the North Melbourne Seconds in 1937, he did not play any senior VFL football. He married Gweneth May Cavenagh in 1950. Football Egan was the first Indigenous Australian to play for Carlton and also the first to play with North Melbourne. He appeared as a centre half-forward in the 1932 VFL Grand Final, as a replacement for an injured Jack Green, but wasn't able to steer his side to a win. Centre Half-forward
In Australian rules football, the centre half-forward is a position on the half-forward line of a football field. The directly opposing player is a centre half-back. Royce Hart of the Richmond Football Club and Wayne Carey of the North Melbourne and Adelaide football clubs are often considered to be two of the greatest centre half-forwards of all time. Royce Hart is the centre half-forward in the AFL team of the century. The centre half-forward's role is usually one of the most demanding of any player on the field, with a tall frame, strength, and—most importantly, athleticism—required. Usually, the best backman will be used to cover a quality CHF, unless the opposing full-forward is so good they take priority. Jack Green (footballer Born 1905)
John Joseph Patrick Green (29 September 1905 – 24 May 1960) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton and Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of John Green, and Mary Green, née Hall, John Joseph Patrick Green was born in Brunswick, Victoria on 29 September 1905. He was the older brother of the Carlton footballer, Bob Green, and both brothers played together (Jack on the half-forward flank, and Bob on the wing) for Victoria, against South Australia on 3 August 1935. He married Norma Gwendolyn Gabell (1910-1970) on 26 September 1934. The 1932 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Richmond Football Club and Carlton Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 1 October 1932. It was the 34th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1932 VFL season. The match, attended by 69,724 spectators, was won by Richmond by a margin of 9 points. Richmond were competing in their fifth Grand Final in six years, and after losing the previous four, finally claimed their third VFL/AFL premiership victory. The publication began as the ''Football Record'' in Melbourne, Australia in 1912, making it one of the oldest magazines in Australia. The publication is also known affectionately by fans as the ''Footy Record'' and many other leagues have since adopted a similar format and produce their own "footy record". Condah
Condah is a small town in south west Victoria, Australia and is located on the Henty Highway north of Heywood. At the 2006 census, Condah and the surrounding area had a population of 272. It is about to north-west of Lake Condah, Budj Bim National Park and Budj Bim.
