Alexandru Popovici (born 9 April 1977) is a Moldovan footballer who plays for Iskra Rîbnița as striker. Tiraspol or Tirișpolea ( ro, Tiraspol, Moldovan Cyrillic: Тираспол, ; russian: Тира́споль, ; uk, Тирасполь, Tyraspol') is the capital of Transnistria (''de facto''), a breakaway state of Moldova, where it is the third largest city. The city is located on the eastern bank of the Dniester River. Tiraspol is a regional hub of light industry, such as furniture and electrical goods production. FC Iskra-Stal Rîbnița is a Moldovan football club based in Rîbnița, Moldova (Transnistria). History FC Iskra-Stal (Rybnitsa) was founded in 2005 by merging an amateur team ''Stal'' that was owned by the metallurgical plant in Rîbnița, with the local team "Iskra", that was competing in the Moldovan "A" Division. The Moldova national football team ( ro, Echipa națională de fotbal a Moldovei) represents Moldova in international football and is controlled by the Moldovan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Moldova. Moldova's home ground is Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău and their head coach is Serghei Cleșcenco. Shortly before the break-up of the Soviet Union, they played their first match against Georgia on 2 July 1991. Two of their three best results in the 1990s came during the qualifiers for UEFA Euro 1996, with wins over Georgia (1–0) in Tbilisi and Wales (3–2) in Chișinău. The Moldova national under-21 football team represents Moldova in international football at this age level and is controlled by the Moldovan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Moldova. The team is considered to be the feeder team for the senior Moldovan national football team. The team competes to qualify for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, held every two years. Since the establishment of the Moldovan under-21 team, the under-21 side has never reached a final tournament of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, but has produced many players, who have become regular internationals for the senior side. Academia Chișinău was a Moldovan football club from Chișinău. They played in the Divizia Națională, the top division in Moldovan football. History Academia came into existence in 2006 when Igor Dobrovolski, Alexandru Cojuhari, and Eduard Rotari decided to create a club with which to facilitate the growth of football talent in Moldova.
