Moldova National Football Team
The Moldova national football team ( ro, Echipa națională de fotbal a Moldovei) represents Moldova in international football and is controlled by the Moldovan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Moldova. Moldova's home ground is Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău and their head coach is Serghei Cleșcenco. Shortly before the break-up of the Soviet Union, they played their first match against Georgia on 2 July 1991. Two of their three best results in the 1990s came during the qualifiers for UEFA Euro 1996, with wins over Georgia (1–0) in Tbilisi and Wales (3–2) in Chișinău. In 2007, Moldova obtained a very good result, defeating Hungary 3–0 in Chișinău in Euro 2008 qualifying. Their best recent result was a 5–2 win over Montenegro during 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying. 2011–12 Moldovan National Division
The 2011–12 Moldovan National Division (Moldovan language, Moldovan: Divizia Națională) was the 21st season of top-tier Association football, football in Moldova. The competition began on 23 July 2011 and ended on 23 May 2012. The league was competed by 12 teams and won by FC Sheriff Tiraspol, Sheriff Tiraspol. 2010–11 Moldovan National Division
The 2010–11 Moldovan National Division ( ro, Divizia Naţională) was the 20th season of top-tier football in Moldova. Sheriff Tiraspol were the defending champions having won their tenth Moldovan championship, all consecutively, last season. The competition began on 24 July 2010. Teams FC Costuleni and CF Gagauziya were promoted from the Moldovan "A" Division as champions and runners-up, respectively, to the National Division. Moldovan National Division
The Moldovan Super Liga is an association football league that is currently the top division of Moldovan football league system. The competition was established in 1992, when the country became independent from the Soviet Union. It was formed in place of former Soviet republican competitions that existed since 1945. Before the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina in 1940, clubs from modern Moldova competed in the Romanian football competitions, particularly Nistru Chișinău. There are currently eight teams in the competition. At the end of the season, the bottom club is relegated to the Moldovan Liga 1 and replaced by the lower league's champion. Sheriff Tiraspol—located in Transnistria—is the most successful league club with 20 titles, and is followed by Zimbru Chișinău with eight wins. 2008 Latvian Higher League
The 2008 Virslīga season was the 17th Virslīga season. It began on 5 April 2008 with the first round of games and ended on 9 November 2008 with the final matches of the championship and relegation rounds. Ventspils were the defending champions. Season details For the 2008 season the league has expanded to ten clubs, and the fixture format has changed. Due to expansion there was no relegation at the end of the 2007 season, and the top two clubs from the 1. līga 2007 season, champions FK Vindava (from Ventspils), and second placed SK Blāzma (from Rēzekne) were both promoted.
