Alexandra Reid Varley (born March 5, 1989), professionally known as Alex Reid, is an American singer and rapper. She is a former member of the South Korean girl group BP Rania, becoming the first African-American idol in the South Korean music industry. Early life Alexandra Reid Varley was born on March 5, 1989 in Kansas City, Kansas. Relocating to Plano, Texas as a child, she began working as a model in the Dallas fashion scene. Kwanzaa () is an annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called ''Karamu'', usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
