Alexandra Bugailiskis
Alexandra Bugailiskis (born January 9, 1956) is a Canadian former diplomat. In March 2022, she retired from Global Affairs Canada after a 39 year diplomatic career. In January 2023, she was appointed Chair of the International Advisory Committee of the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) , known as the UN's Think Tank on Water, based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, From August 2017 until her retirement, she served as the Canadian Ambassador to the Italian Republic, as well as Permanent Representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development, with concurrent accreditation as Ambassador to San Marino, and to Albania, as well as High Commissioner to Malta. John McNee (diplomat)
John McNee is a Canadian career diplomat. McNee was Canada's Ambassador to the United Nations from 2006 to July 2011. McNee earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from York University in Canada in 1973 and a Master of Arts in History from Cambridge University in 1975. He joined the Department of External Affairs in 1978 and has served in Spain, the United Kingdom and Israel. In the 1980s, he was on then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's Task Force on International Peace and Security and also served in the Privy Council Office. He was Canadian Ambassador to Syria from 1993 to 1997 and concurrently served as envoy to Lebanon until 1995. Franco Pillarella
Franco D. Pillarella is a Canadian career diplomat. He is most known for his testimony into the deportation and imprisonment of Maher Arar, which occurred during his tenure as Canadian ambassador to Syria. Early life and career Pillarella earned a B.A. from the University of Ottawa, in 1963; he went on to obtain an LL.B from the same institution in 1966 and was called to the Quebec Bar in 1967. He joined the Foreign Service later that year. He has served abroad in Bonn, Milan, Rome, Algiers, The Hague and, from 1988 to 1992, as Consul-General in Berlin. In Ottawa, he held a number of positions, including Director, Human Rights and Social Affairs Division, and Director, Foreign Intelligence Division. Norman Spector (born March 6, 1949) is a Canadian journalist and former diplomat, civil servant, and newspaper publisher. Early life and career Born in Montreal, Quebec, Spector received a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science, from McGill University in 1970. Awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, he received a Master of Philosophy degree in Political Science from Columbia University in 1972 and a Ph.D. in 1977. Michael Small (May 30, 1939 – November 24, 2003) was an American film score composer known for his scores to thriller movies such as ''Klute'', ''The Parallax View'', '' Marathon Man'', and ''The Star Chamber''. Personal life Small was born in New York City but grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. His father, Jack Small, was an actor and later, the general manager of the Shubert Theater in New York City. Small did his undergraduate work at Williams College where he was graduated with a degree in English. He later studied for a year at Harvard University.
