Alexandra Briem
Alexandra Briem (born 1983) is an Icelandic politician. She has served as President of the Reykjavík City Council since 2021. She is a member of the Pirate Party. Alexandra was born in Reykjavík. Her parents are both members of the punk-pop band Fræbbblarnir. Alexandra was initially a service representative for Síminn, Iceland's largest telecommunications company. She joined the Pirate Party in 2014 and campaigned for them in the 2017 parliamentary election. She was appointed to the third position on the party's electoral list in the 2018 Reykjavík City Council elections and became the first deputy councillor for the party at the end of the elections. She was a deputy councillor until May 2021, when she became a councillor and President of the Council. Reykjavík City Council
The City Council is the governing body of the City of Reykjavík, composed of representatives elected by the inhabitants of the city. The council Municipality is responsible for enforcing the issues which that the State has delegated to local authorities. City Council appoints a mayor and appoints committees under its authority responsible for the daily operations of the city. There are fifteen members of the council and elections are held during the Icelandic Municipal elections every four years. Meetings of the City Council take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Pirate Party (Iceland)
The Pirate Party ( is, Píratar) is a political party in Iceland. The party's platform is based on pirate politics and direct democracy. History The Icelandic Pirate Party was founded on 24 November 2012 by Birgitta Jónsdóttir (previously a member of the Movement) and several Internet activists, including Smári McCarthy. The party successfully applied for the ballot list letter Þ (resembling the party's logo) in order to run in the 2013 election. In July 2016, the party requested and was issued the letter P for future elections. In their first electoral participation, at the 2013 parliamentary election, the Pirate Party won 5.1% of the votes, just above the 5% threshold required to win representation in the Althing. Reykjavík

Fræbbblarnir
Fræbbblarnir is an Icelandic punk-pop musical group. They were formed in Iceland in 1978 and released a number of records until they quit early in 1983. A punk-pop band playing short, melodic songs fast and raw, they were inspired by the Ramones, Clash, Stranglers, Jam, Sex Pistols, Damned, Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias, Stiff Little Fingers, Undertones, Buzzcocks, Crass, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and the rest of the early punk and New Wave scene, as well as 1960s bands like the Kinks and Troggs. They appeared in the documentary Rokk í Reykjavík, and the album “Viltu nammi væna?” is regarded as a classic. Its members continued playing on and off under various names until a compilation album was released by Smekkleysa (“Bad Taste”) in 1996, when the original band was re-formed. 2017 Icelandic Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Iceland on 28 October 2017. On 15 September 2017, the three-party coalition government collapsed after the departure of Bright Future over a scandal involving Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson's father writing a letter recommending a convicted child sex offender have his "honour restored". Bjarni subsequently called for a snap election, which was officially scheduled for 28 October 2017 following the dissolution of the Althing. Though many opinion polls in the run-up to the election indicated an increase in support for the Left-Green Movement, the Independence Party retained its position as the Althing's largest party. 2018 Icelandic Municipal Elections
Municipal elections took place in Iceland on 26 May 2018. 55 of the 72 municipal councils in the country were elected using open list PR. The rural municipality Tjörneshreppur did not hold an election as only one list was presented, whose candidates were thereby automatically elected. No list was presented in 16 municipalities. Municipal councils in those municipalities were elected using a form of plurality block voting were voters write in the names of their preferred candidates. Transgender
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process.
