Alexander Voltz
Alexander Donald Kenneth Voltz (born 13 April 1999) is an Australian composer. He is also known for his political stance as a monarchist. Education Voltz was born in Toowoomba, Queensland and grew up in Brisbane. He attended Brisbane Boys' College and later studied composition, history and writing at the University of Queensland, where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Music with Honours (First Class) and a Bachelor of Arts. He studied composition with Robert Davidson, Cathy Likhuta and Nicole Murphy, and received the mentorship of Brenton Broadstock and Brett Dean. Voltz has attributed his earliest opportunities and successes to the support of his family, in particular his father, the musician Bradley Voltz. John Curro and the Queensland Youth Orchestras have also been noted as championing Voltz's early music. Toowoomba
Toowoomba ( , nicknamed 'The Garden City' and 'T-Bar') is a city in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. It is west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road. The urban population of Toowoomba as of the 2021 Census was 142,163, having grown at an average annual rate of 1.45% over the previous two decades. Toowoomba is the second-most-populous inland city in the country after the national capital of Canberra and hence the largest city on the Darling Downs, and it is among the largest regional centres in Queensland. John Curro
John Ronald Curro (6 December 1932 – 6 November 2019) was an Australian violinist, violist, conductor and music director. Curro was the founder (1966) and Director of Music of the Queensland Youth Orchestras, with which he established the National Youth Concerto Competition (NYCC). Honours and awards Curro was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1981 and a Member of the Order of Australia in 1995. He was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001. ABC Classic
ABC Classic, formerly ABC-FM (also ABC Fine Music), and then ABC Classic FM, is an Australian classical music radio station available in Australia and internationally. Its website features classical music news, features and listening guides. It is operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert was an Australian concert held on 6 August 2022 at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane that celebrated the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia. The concert was directed by composer Alexander Voltz and organist Andrej Kouznetsov. The concert featured the choirs of St John's Cathedral, Brisbane and St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, as well as Kouznetsov and the John Coulton Brass, performing works by Australian and British composers, including William McKie, Samuel Sebastian Wesley, George Frideric Handel, Herbert Howells, Hubert Parry, Richard Mills, Judith Weir, Brenton Broadstock, Thomas Hewitt Jones, Charles Villiers Stanford, and Alexander Voltz. The Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) is a classical music performance training facility situated in Melbourne. History ANAM was established in 1994, as part of prime minister Paul Keating's "Creative Nation" initiative. Flinders Quartet is an Australian string quartet. They were formed in 2000 by Helen Ireland, Zoe Knighton, Matthew Tomkins and Erica Kennedy. Ensemble Offspring
Ensemble Offspring is an Australian music ensemble. The group is led by artistic director Claire Edwardes, and features some of Australia's most innovative performers. The group has toured to locations such as Hong Kong, London and Warsaw, are regularly featured at MONA FOMA, Sydney and Melbourne Festivals, and have a cult following at their Sizzle series at Petersham Bowling Club.
