Alexander Anatolevich Volkov (, russian: Александр Анатольевич Волков; born 29 March 1964), commonly known as Sasha Volkov, is a retired Soviet and Ukrainian professional basketball player. He was born in Omsk, RSFSR, Soviet Union. At 6'10" (2.08 m) tall, he played at the power forward and center positions. He was versatile with the ball and quick on his feet, which made him a very sought after player. Professional career Volkov played professionally for Stroitel (1981–1986; 1988–1989), CSKA Moscow (1986–1988), in the NBA, with the Atlanta Hawks (1989–1992), Panasonic Reggio Calabria (1992–1993), Panathinaikos (1993–1994), Olympiacos (1994–1995), and Kyiv (2000–2002). Alexander Volkov (fighter)
Alexander Volkov (born October 24, 1988) is a Russian professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Heavyweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Volkov previously competed for the M-1 Global promotion, as well as Bellator MMA. He is a former heavyweight champion in both promotions. Alexander Melentyevich Volkov (russian: Александр Мелентьевич Волков ; 14 June 1891 – 3 July 1977) was a Soviet novelist, playwright, university lecturer. Аuthor of novels, short stories, plays and poems for children, mostly remembered for the Magic Land series of books, based on L. Frank Baum's ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz''. Biography Volkov was born in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semipalatinsk Oblast, Russian Empire (now Oskemen, Kazakhstan). At the age of 12 he graduated from the Ust-Kamenogorsk town school as valedictorian, where he would later teach. In 1907 he entered the Tomsk Teachers Institute. Alexander Vladimirovich Volkov (russian: Алекса́ндр Влади́мирович Во́лков ; 3 March 1967 – 19 October 2019) was a Russian professional tennis player. Tennis career Volkov finished runner-up in three tournaments over 1989 and 1990; in the latter year he defeated World No. 1 Stefan Edberg in straight sets in the first round of the US Open. Volkov won his first top-level professional singles title in 1991 at Milan. At Wimbledon that year, he lost a close match in the fourth round to the eventual tournament champion Michael Stich, 4–6, 6–3, 7–5, 1–6, 7–5 despite winning the same number of games as Stich overall in the match, which hinged on a lucky shot hit by the German when he was trailing 3–5 in the final set. Alexander Vladimirovich Volkov (russian: Александр Владимирович Волков; born August 2, 1997) is a Russian professional ice hockey winger for HC Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round (48th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Volkov won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Lightning in 2020. Playing career Juniors Volkov developed as junior age player in the SKA Saint Petersburg farm system. In his second season Volkov helped SKA-1946 of the MHL to capture the Kharlamov Cup as league champion. As President, Volkov was the highest official in the Udmurt Republic, the head of the republic's highest executive body, and leader of its two million citizens. Alexander Nikolaevich Volkov (Russian: Александр Николаевич Волков; August 31, 1886, in Fergana – December 17, 1957, in Tashkent) was an avant-garde Russian painter. Although his style was much influenced by Cubo-Futurism, it was officially declared formalist and counter-revolutionary, condemning him to obscurity. He was also an acclaimed poet. The Israel Piano Trio ( he, שלישיית הפסנתר הישראלית) is a classical piano trio founded in 1972 by the pianist Alexander Volkov, the violinist Menahem Breuer, and the cellist Zvi Harell. Formation and members The Israel piano trio was founded in Israel in 1972 by Alexander Volkov (piano), Menahem Breuer (violin), and Zvi Harell (cello). Zvi Harell was later replaced with Marcel Bergman, and later by Hillel Zori. After the death of Alexander Volkov in 2006, the pianist Tomer Lev joined the trio. He is a veteran of 3 space flights, including twice to the Mir Soviet space station, and is the father of cosmonaut Sergey Volkov. Biography and career Volkov was born in Ukrainian SSR in a family of Russian ethnicity. At the age of 13, Volkov witnessed Yuri Gagarin become the first man in space and this inspired him to become a cosmonaut. He joined the Soviet space programme and became a test pilot before realising his dream. He flew into space three times.
