Alexander Vakhnov
Alexander Evgenievich Vakhnov (russian: Александр Евгеньевич Вахнов, born 16 February 1999) is a Russian competitive ice dancer. With his former skating partner, Sofia Polishchuk, he is the 2017 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist and 2017 JGP Australia champion. Personal life Alexander Evgenievich Vakhnov was born on 16 February 1999 in Kirov, Kirov Oblast, Russia. Career Early career Vakhnov began learning to skate in 2003. He teamed up with Sofia Polishchuk ahead of the 2009–2010 season. Polishchuk/Vakhnov started competing internationally in the 2010–2011 season, winning the basic novice category at the 2010 NRW Trophy. Ice Dancer
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Couples and friends would skate waltzes, marches, and other social dances. The first steps in ice dance were similar to those used in ballroom dancing. 2016 Russian Figure Skating Championships
The 2016 Russian Figure Skating Championships (russian: Чемпионат России по фигурному катанию на коньках 2016) were held from 23 to 27 December 2015 in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (titled the ISU Junior Series in the 1997–98 season) is a series of international junior-level competitions organized by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. 2014 NRW Trophy
The 2014 NRW Trophy is an international figure skating competition during the 2014–15 figure skating season, 2014–2015 season. An annual event organized by the Skating Union of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), it has been sanctioned by the Deutsche Eislauf Union and the International Skating Union since 2007. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition is held in Dortmund, Germany in two parts. Ice Star
The Minsk-Arena Ice Star, or simply Ice Star, is an international figure skating competition. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels. The inaugural event was held in September 2012 in Minsk, Belarus. 2010 NRW Trophy
The 2010 NRW Trophy was held in two parts, with ice dancers competing separately from the singles disciplines and pair skating. Both competitions were held at the Eissportzentrum Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The ice dancing competition was held between November 5 and 7, 2010, and the other disciplines between December 2 and 5, 2010. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing across the levels of senior, junior, and novice.
