Alexander Stanislavovich Romanov (russian: Александр Станиславович Романов; born 6 January 2000) is a Russian professional ice hockey defenceman for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). Romanov was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the 38th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career After two seasons playing in the KHL, Romanov was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract by the Montreal Canadiens on 13 July 2020. Making his debut with the team for the COVID-shortened 2020–21 season, Romanov played in 54 of 56 regular season games. However, he took to the ice in only four of the 22 games in the Canadiens' deep playoff run to the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals. On 5 July 2021, he became the youngest defenseman in Canadiens history to score a goal in the Stanley Cup Finals. Kirby Dach
Kirby Dach (born January 21, 2001) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Dach was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks with the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior During the 2016 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft, Dach was selected second overall by the Saskatoon Blades. He played in 19 games, scoring 10 points. Dach joined the Blades full-time for the 2017–18 season. In 52 games, he recorded seven goals and 39 assists. In January 2019, Dach was named as an alternate captain for the Blades for the remainder of the season. He was named captain for Team Orr for the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. The Russian men's national ice hockey team (russian: Сборная России по хоккею с шайбой) is the national men's ice hockey team of Russia, overseen by the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia. As of 2021, they were rated third in the IIHF World Ranking. The team has competed internationally from 1992 until a 2022 ban, and is recognized by the IIHF as the successor to the Soviet Union team and CIS team. Soviet Union National Ice Hockey Team
The Soviet national ice hockey team was the national men's ice hockey team of the Soviet Union. From 1954, the team won at least one medal each year at either the Ice Hockey World Championships or the Olympic hockey tournament. After 1991, the Soviet team competed as the CIS team (part of the Unified Team) at the 1992 Winter Olympics. After the Olympics, the CIS team ceased to exist and was replaced by Russia at the 1992 World Championship. Zinetula Khaidarovich "Bill" Bilyaletdinov (russian: Зинэтула Хайдарович Билялетдинов, tt-Cyrl, Зиннәтулла Хәйдәр улы Билалетдинев; born 13 March 1955) is a former Russian ice hockey player of Tatar descent, who played for the USSR. From 1973–1988 Bilyaletdinov played for HC Dynamo Moscow. As a coach, he won the Russian Championship in the 2005–2006 season and the 2007 European Champions Cup, as well as the first-ever KHL Gagarin Cup championship as coaching Ak Bars Kazan. Bilyaletdinov served as an assistant coach for the Winnipeg Jets in the 1994 and 1995 seasons, and as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Coyotes during the 1996–1997 season. The Russian men's national under 20 ice hockey team is the national under-20 ice hockey team in Russia. 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2020 Ice Hockey World Junior Championships (''2020 WJC'') was the 44th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It began on December 26, 2019, and ended with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2020. Canada defeated Russia 4–3 to win the gold medal and their 18th world junior hockey championship. This marks the fourth time that the Czech Republic hosted the WJHC. On April 16, 2018, it was announced that Ostrava and Třinec, in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the northeast corner of the Czech Republic, would be the host cities. It is the second time that Ostrava has been the primary host of the tournament and the first time that Třinec is hosting in any capacity.
