Alexander Valentinovich Novak (; born 23 August 1971 in Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine SSR) is a Russian politician who is a current Deputy Prime Minister of Russia since November 2020. Previously, he was the Minister of Energy of Russia between 2012 and 2020, before being replaced in November 2020 by the general director of RusHydro, Nikolay Shulginov. Career In 1993, he graduated from Norilsk Industrial Institute as a specialist on Economy and Management in Metallurgy. He previously served as the director of the Federal Taxation Service from 2010 to 2020.
