Alexander Montague
Alexander Montague (1815 – 7 October 1898) was an Australian politician. He was born at Cloughlin in County Tyrone to farmers James and Mary Montague. He migrated to Sydney in 1841 and established a general store at Cooma, where he bought up extensive land and built a flour mill. On 4 February 1850 he married Rosina O'Hare, with whom he had five children. Cooma, New South Wales
Cooma is a town in the south of New South Wales, Australia. It is located south of the national capital, Canberra, via the Monaro Highway. It is also on the Snowy Mountains Highway, connecting Bega with the Riverina. At the , Cooma had a population of 6,742. Cooma is the main town of the Monaro region. It is above sea level. The name could have derived from an Aboriginal word ''Coombah'', meaning 'big lake' or 'open country'. Cooma is south of the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, a main tributary of the Murray–Darling basin. Cooma sources its water from the river. John Murphy (1821–1883)
John Murphy (1821 – 24 June 1883) was an English-born Australian politician. He migrated to New South Wales around 1843 and became a pastoralist. On 22 February 1855 he married Mary Albon, with whom he had six children. By 1866 he owned Kybean station in the Monaro district. In 1877 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Monaro, but he did not re-contest in 1880.
