Alexander Domínguez
Alexander Domínguez Carabalí (born 5 June 1987) is an Ecuadorian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Ecuadorian Serie A club LDU Quito and the Ecuador national team. Club career LDU Quito (2006-2016) Domínguez played for L.D.U. Quito from 2006 to 2016, taking over the starting spot from José Francisco Cevallos. He won two Ecuadorian Serie A titles, the 2009 Copa Sudamericana, the 2009 Recopa Sudamericana and the 2010 Recopa Sudamericana. Domínguez is one of the top 300 goalkeepers in the world, the third highest ranked Ecuadorian, and the highest ranked active Ecuadorian in terms of time spent without conceding a goal. From 2 September 2007 to 28 October 2007, he went 719 minutes without conceding a goal. He is nicknamed "Dida", after the Brazilian keeper of the same name. Ecuador National Football Team
The Ecuador national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Ecuador) represents Ecuador in men's international football and is controlled by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF). They joined FIFA in 1926 and CONMEBOL a year later. Discarding an invitation to participate in the inaugural FIFA World Cup held in Uruguay, Ecuador did not make their tournament debut until 2002. The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national football teams organised by FIFA. 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CONMEBOL)
The South American Zone of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification saw nine teams competing for 4 or 5 berths in the finals. Brazil automatically qualified for the World Cup as the host nation so were not involved in CONMEBOL qualifying. Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay advanced to the World Cup. Format The format for CONMEBOL's 2014 World Cup qualifying tournament was identical to the previous four editions. All CONMEBOL national teams played against each other twice on a home-and-away basis in a single group for 4 or 5 allotted berths. The top four teams automatically qualified for the finals. The fifth-placed team competed in the intercontinental play-offs against the fifth-placed team from the AFC's World Cup qualifying tournament. Marcelo Ramón Elizaga Ferrero (born April 19, 1972) is an Argentine-born, naturalized Ecuadorian former football goalkeeper. He played for Deportivo Quito in the Ecuador Serie A and the Ecuador national team. Club career Elizaga started his career in 1992 for Nueva Chicago in the Argentine 2nd division. In 1998, he transferred to Club Atlético Lanús in the Primera Division Argentina. In 2000, he joined Quilmes Atlético Club in the 2nd division and helped them gain promotion to the Primera. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football.
