Alexander Basil Crawford (24 May 1891 – 10 May 1916) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Warwickshire in the Championship-winning side of 1911 and for Nottinghamshire in 1912. He was born at Coleshill, Warwickshire and died in the fighting of the First World War at Laventie and Richebourg, France. Cricket career Crawford was a tall lower-order right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He played second eleven cricket for Nottinghamshire in 1909 and 1910, he was picked for Warwickshire, for whom he had a birth qualification, for the match against the Indians in 1911 and, having made an unbeaten 24 in his only innings, batting at No 10, he took six second-innings wickets for just 36 runs, which proved to be the best bowling return of his brief career. Alexander Crawford (sailor)
Alexander S. Crawford (1842 – March 17, 1886) was a sailor in the United States Navy who served in the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the war. Formative years Crawford was born in 1842 (alternate birth year 1843) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Civil War Crawford enlisted for Civil War military service with the U.S. Navy in Philadelphia in 1862. He subsequently served as a fireman on the . Having initially served 16 months during the war's early years, he re-enlisted at the rank of fireman, second class in the U.S. Navy in Philadelphia in February 1864. Military records at the time described him as being a 22-year-old native of Philadelphia and "Saw Grinder" who was 5' 7-1/2" tall with brown hair and blue eyes. Alexander Hunter Crawford
Alexander Hunter Crawford (1865–1945) was a Scottish architect and businessman. Closely associated with his father's firm of Crawford's Biscuits he designed many biscuit factories, and became owner of the company in 1931. Many of his villas are now listed buildings. His masterpiece (although somewhat "old-fashioned" for its date) is probably the huge Masonic Lodge on George Street in Edinburgh. Life He was born on 10 August 1865 in Leith, the harbour area of Edinburgh, the son of William Crawford, owner of Crawford's Biscuits. They lived at 6 Wellington Place on the west side of Leith Links. He was educated at Edinburgh Institution (now called Stewarts Melville College).
