Alexander Cataford
Alexander Cataford (born 1 September 1993) is a Canadian racing cyclist. He won the Under-23 title at the 2013 Canadian National Time Trial Championships. He is a six-time Canadian Junior National Champion. In 2011, he was the Junior Pan American Champion in individual pursuit. For the 2014 season, Cataford joined the team. In October 2020, he was named in the startlist for the 2020 Giro d'Italia. Personal life Cataford was born in Ottawa, Ontario. He attended Queen's University where he graduated with a degree in physics. 2013 Tour Of Alberta
The 2013 Tour of Alberta is the inaugural edition of the Tour of Alberta stage race. The inaugural event is included on the UCI America Tour, with a UCI classification of 2.1. As such, the race was only open to teams on the UCI Pro Tour, UCI Professional Continental and UCI Continental circuits. The race takes place between September 3–8, 2013, as a six-day, six-stage race, traversing the province of Alberta. The race commences in Edmonton and finishes Calgary. The 2013 Tour of Alberta was one of seven UCI-ranked stage races in the North America in 2013. Due to damages caused by the 2013 Alberta floods, various routes were changed. Tour Of Alberta
The ATB Tour of Alberta was a Canadian bicycle stage race, which raced across the province of Alberta. It was sanctioned by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and was part of the UCI America Tour. It was classified as a 2.1 race, making it one of the highest rated races on the tour. The inaugural tour featured a prologue and five stages, and was held September 3–8, 2013. On February 15, 2018 the Alberta Peloton Association announced that the event was being cancelled. History The Tour of Alberta was the brainchild of former professional cyclist Alex Steida, who was the first North American cyclist to wear the Yellow Jersey in the Tour de France. 2021 Vuelta A España
The 2021 Vuelta a España was a three-week cycling race which took place in Spain between 14 August and 5 September 2021. It was the 76th edition of the Vuelta a España and the third and final grand tour of the 2021 men's road cycling season. The race departed from Burgos and finished in Santiago de Compostela. The race was won by Primož Roglič of , his third consecutive victory in the race. He became only the third rider to win the race in three successive years. He won by 4' 42", the largest margin of victory since Alex Zülle won by 5' 07" in 1997. He first took the red jersey on the first stage time trial before relinquishing the jersey to breakaway riders on two occasions. Since 1919, the leader of the general classification wears the yellow jersey (french: maillot jaune ). History The winner of the first Tour de France wore a green armband, not a yellow jersey. 2022 Giro D'Italia
The 2022 Giro d'Italia was the 105th edition of the Giro d'Italia, a three-week Grand Tour (cycling), Grand Tour cycling stage race. The race started on 6 May in Budapest, Hungary, and finished on 29 May in Verona, Italy. The race was won by Jai Hindley of , taking his first Grand Tour victory and becoming the first Australian to win the Giro. Hindley came into the race as one of his team's three potential GC leaders before taking the team leadership when he won 2022 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1 to Stage 11#Stage 9, stage 9, which finished atop Blockhaus. General Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The general classification in the Giro d'Italia is the most important classification of the Giro d'Italia, which determines who is the overall winner. It is therefore considered more important than secondary classifications as the points classification or the mountains classification. Since 1931, the leader of the general classification is identified by a pink jersey ( it, maglia rosa ). Prior to that year and since the creation of the race, no colour was used to distinguish the winner at the top of the classification. The first rider to wear the maglia rosa was Learco Guerra following the first stage of the 1931 Giro d'Italia. The first jersey was entirely pink and made from wool. In road bicycle racing, a Grand Tour is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races: Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España. Collectively they are termed the ''Grand Tours'', and all three races are similar in format, being three-week races with daily stages. They have a special status in the UCI regulations: more points for the UCI World Tour are distributed in Grand Tours than in other races, and they are the only stage races allowed to last longer than 14 days. The Colorado Classic is a four-stage cycling race that was first held in 2017. First organized with both men's and women's races, the men's race was discontinued after the 2018 edition; the Classic continues as a women-only event. The men's version of the race was designated as 2.HC The UCI 1.HC and UCI 2.HC are the second tier classification of road cycling races by the UCI, after the UCI World Tour (or its predecessor, the UCI ProTour).
