Alexander Bakunin
Alexander Mikhailovich Bakunin ( – ) was a Russian diplomat, a prominent member of the Tver nobility, poet and publicist from the Bakunin family. The owner of the Pryamukhino estate, where he was visited by famous figures of Russian culture Vissarion Belinsky, Nikolai Stankevich, Timofey Granovsky and many others. He was also the father of the revolutionary socialist Mikhail Bakunin. Biography Born on in the village of Pryamukhino, Novotorzhsky district of the Tver province of the Russian Empire, into the family of a state councilor, vice-president of the chamber collegium Mikhail Vasilyevich Bakunin (1730-1803) and Princess Lyubov Petrovna Myshetskaya (1738-1814). In 1781, Alexander Mikhailovich Bakunin, under the patronage of his uncle Peter Vasilyevich Bakunin ("the little one"), was sent to Piedmont, where he began serving as an actuary at the office of the Russian envoy in Turin. Pryamukhino
Pryamukhino (russian: Прямухино) is a Russian village in the Kuvshinovsky District of the Tver Oblast. Geography Pryamukhino is located on the Osuga (Tvertsa), Osuga River, which flows towards the provincial capital of Tver. History In 1779, the estate of Pryamukhino was acquired by Mikhail Vasilyevich Bakunin, a minor member of the Russian nobility who had risen through the Table of Ranks to become a State Councillor (Russia), State Councillor for Catherine the Great. Lacking in any further political ambition, Bakunin retired to Pryamukhino, where he raised three sons and five daughters. In 1803, Mikhail Vasilyevich Bakunin died, leaving the estate under the management of his third son, Alexander Bakunin. Mikhail Bakunin was born there. References Bibliography
