Aleksandr Avdeyev (also known as Aleksandrs Avdejevs; born 1 August 1956) is a Soviet former sprint canoer who competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He has won six medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, with four golds (K-4 10000 m: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1983), a silver (K-4 1000 m: 1977), and a bronze (K-4 1000 m: 1979). Aleksandr Fyodorovich Avdeyev (russian: Александр Фёдорович Авдеев; 5 August 1916 – 12 August 1942) was a Soviet fighter ace of World War II with 13 victories claimed. He participated in the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939–1940 (Winter War). He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on 10 February 1943. Early life He was born in the village of Bolshaya Talinka in Tambov Governorate. In the 1930s his family had to move to Lyublino (now a district of Moscow). There he has graduated from factory-and-workshop school and worked as a metalworker in a foundry. After work he attended an Air club in Podolsk. In 1938 he joined the army and attended the Borisoglebsk Military Air College. World War II From the beginning of the German-Soviet War he served on the Leningrad Front with 153 IAP as a Leytenant and was later promoted to Starshiy Leytenant and Flight commander. Aleksandr Alekseyevich Avdeyev (russian: link=no, Александр Алексеевич Авдеев; born 8 September 1946 in Kremenchuk, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic) is a Russian and Soviet politician and diplomat. He was the Ambassador of the Soviet Union to Luxembourg from 1987 to 1990, the Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria from 1992 to 1996 and the Ambassador of Russia to France from 2002 to 2008. He later served as the Minister of Culture from 2008 to 2012. Since January 2013, he is the Ambassador of Russia to the Holy See and to the Sovereign Order of Malta. Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Avdeyev (russian: Александр Александрович Авдеев; born 12 August 1975), is a Russian statesman and politician, who is currently the 5th Governor of Vladimir Oblast since 16 September 2022. He had previously served as a deputy of the State Duma of the VII convocation from 2016 to 2021, and as the Deputy Governor of Kaluga Oblast, and member of the Government of Kaluga Oblast from 2015 to 2016. He was Mayor of Obninsk from 2010 to 2015. He is a member of the United Russia party. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Canada imposed sanctions on Avdeev in August 2022.
