Alexander Hume Anderson Jr. (September 5, 1920 – October 22, 2010) was an American cartoonist who created the characters of Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Bullwinkle, and Dudley Do-Right, as well as Crusader Rabbit. He was not directly involved in '' The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show'', however. Biography Alexander Hume Anderson Jr. was born September 5, 1920 in Berkeley, California, to Olga B. (née Terry) and Alexander Anderson. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. He received an honorary degree from San Francisco Art institute in 2000. Anderson was a nephew of Mighty Mouse producer Paul Terry, and began his career in 1938, working summer vacations, during college, at his Terrytoons animation studio. Anderson served in Navy intelligence during World War II. Major-General Alexander Vass Anderson (17 November 1895 – 17 October 1963) was a senior British Army officer of the Second World War. Military career Anderson was born in Poona, India, the son of Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vass Anderson (1856-1933), of the Indian Medical Service. He attended the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich and commissioned into the Royal Engineers on 12 August 1914. Between 1915 and 1918 he served in the First World War, during which he was Mentioned in Dispatches. He was promoted to captain on 3 November 1917. In 1921, Anderson was attached to the 2nd Queen Victoria's Own Madras Sappers and Miners and saw active service in the Malabar rebellion. On 2 June 1923 he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services during the conflict. Alexander Caulfield Anderson
Alexander Caulfield Anderson (10 March 1814 – 8 May 1884) was a British Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) fur-trader, explorer of British Columbia and civil servant. Anderson joined HBC in 1831 and emigrated to Canada from Europe. He was placed in leadership roles of various forts in British Columbia, including the founding of outposts. In the late 1840s he explored various route possibilities for HBC to connect interior forts with the Pacific Ocean. He retired in 1854, but moved to Victoria, British Columbia, to work as a civil servant. In 1876 he was appointed as dominion inspector of fisheries and proposed building British Columbia's first hatchery. In 1882, he was stranded on a sand bank for one night, causing his health to deteriorate. He died two years later.
