Alexander A. Farrelly
Alexander Anthony Farrelly (December 29, 1923 – September 10, 2002) was an American politician and the fourth elected Governor of the United States Virgin Islands, serving from 1987 to 1995. Farrelly graduated from St. John's University, Queens, New York in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in law. Adelbert Bryan
Adelbert Bryan is a U.S. Virgin Islands politician and former senator. Political Career Adelbert Bryan served as Frederiksted police commander. In 1989, he won 35 percent of the vote for USVI Governor. Bryan has also served as Senator and on the Board of Education. Personal life In 1989, Bryan was charged with looting after Hurricane Hugo. Henry Millin
Henry A. Millin (March 17, 1923 – February 4, 2004) was an American Virgin Islander banker and politician. Millin served as the fourth Lieutenant Governor of the United States Virgin Islands (and third elected Lt. Governor) from 1978 until 1983. Biography Early life Millin was born on the island of Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands on March 17, 1923, to Allan and Lucinda Sewer Millin. Millin's mother, Lucinda Sewer Millin, was a Senator in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands. She is the namesake of the Lucinda Millin Home for the Aged, a nursing home on Saint Thomas. In a prior relationship, Millin had a son, Leslie Millin Millin married Angela Correa Irizarry in 1950. The couple had two children—Ines Lucinda Millin and Henry Orville Millin. Ronald de Lugo (August 2, 1930 – July 14, 2020) was an American politician. He was the first Delegate (United States Congress), Delegate from the United States Virgin Islands to the United States House of Representatives. Ron de Lugo's parents were Puerto Ricans. Hurricane Hugo
Hurricane Hugo was a powerful Cape Verde tropical cyclone that inflicted widespread damage across the northeastern Caribbean and the Southeastern United States in September 1989. Across its track, Hugo affected approximately 2 million people. Its direct effects killed 67 people and inflicted $11 billion (equivalent to $ billion in ) in damage. West Indian Company
The West Indian Company, Limited (WICO) is a formerly private company in the United States Virgin Islands, now owned by the Public Finance Authority of the U.S.V.I. It was founded in 1912 in Denmark, and operated for most of its history as a subsidiary of the EAC Invest A/S, East Asiatic Company. It was sold in 1993 to the government of the U.S.V.I. Originally designed to manage coal bunkering, the company brought electricity services to the island in 1914. In 1936 the original president, Mr. Hans N. Andersen of Denmark, saw tourism as another business venture and established the Maison Danois, the first tourist shop in St. Thomas. That year the company also bought property and began development of what they would call Caneel Bay.
