Alex Williams (footballer, Born 1983)
Alexander Boyd Williams (born 15 January 1983), is a Scottish football forward. He has previously played in the Scottish Football League First Division for several clubs. Career Williams began his career with Stirling Albion, where he exploded onto the scene as a teenager, scoring 21 times in 61 appearances, and being linked to moves with big English clubs, such as Spurs and Charlton. Williams headed to Greenock Morton in 2002 for £50,000. His time at Morton, and his subsequent career prospects, were marred by an unproven betting scandal after the club lost a 14-point lead at the top of the Second Division to finish the season in fourth position. Williams later claimed that this rumour had a severe effect on his career, as clubs were unwilling to consider signing him despite his track record. Ayrshire Derby
The Ayrshire Derby refers to matches between the two professional Scottish football sides based in Ayrshire: Ayr United and Kilmarnock. The first match was held on 14 September 1910, in the same year that Ayr United were formed. This game was the final of the Ayrshire League in the 1909–10 season, and finished in a 4–4 draw. Ayr United were the first of the clubs to record a win the following season. The six most recent meetings took place in national cup competitions because Kilmarnock have played in a higher division than Ayr since 1993. Up until 1998, both clubs competed in a local cup competition, the Ayrshire Cup, which also involved local junior sides. The current record for Ayrshire derby games in major competitions stands at 56 wins for Kilmarnock and 48 for Ayr United. 2008–09 Scottish Cup
The 2008–09 Scottish Cup was the 124th season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The winners were Rangers, who defeated Falkirk in the 2009 final on 30 May 2009. The competition was under new sponsorship. While the SFA sponsored the tournament last season, the new sponsor was Homecoming Scotland 2009, a project from the Scottish Government to encourage Scots from all over the world to visit the country. The tournament itself was known as The Homecoming Scottish Cup Banks o' Dee, Bathgate Thistle, Lochee United and Pollok were the four junior clubs that entered this season.
