Alexander Francis Watson (born 5 April 1968) is an English former professional association football, footballer who made more than 400 appearances in the English Football League, Football League playing for Liverpool F.C., Liverpool, Derby County F.C., Derby County, AFC Bournemouth, Gillingham F.C., Gillingham, Torquay United F.C., Torquay United and Exeter City F.C., Exeter City. He is the younger brother of the former Everton F.C., Everton player Dave Watson, and like his brother, played as a defender (association football), central defender. Life and career Watson was born in Liverpool, and began his career as an apprentice with Liverpool F.C. He turned professional in 1985, and made his debut against Queens Park Rangers F.C., Queens Park Rangers in March 1988. He made nine appearances in total for the club, of which four were in the league, and he was in the starting line-up for the 1988 FA Charity Shield, 1988 Charity Shield. Alexander Watson (1864 – 12 July 1931) was secretary-manager of Birmingham Football Club from 1908 to 1911. Life and career Alexander Watson was born in 1864 in Patterdale, Westmorland, to Scottish parents, John Watson, a lead miner, and his wife, Helen. By the time of the 1871 Census, the family had moved to Monkwearmouth Shore, in Sunderland, County Durham, where John Watson had worked in the coal mines. Watson became a schoolteacher, a career he followed alongside his involvement with football. He was joint secretary of Sunderland A.F.C. from 1894 to 1900, and remained on the administrative staff thereafter. Alex Watson (rugby League)
Alex Watson (10 October 1931 – 5 June 2002) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s. An Australian international and Queensland interstate representative three-quarter back, he played club football in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for Western Suburbs. Watson first represented Queensland in 1951 in a match against New South Wales. He made his test debut at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 12 June 1954 against Great Britain in the first test of that year's Ashes series. Australia won this test 37-12. In 1953 Watson toured New Zealand with the Australian team. In the 1954 Brisbane Rugby League Grand Final Watson scored two tries and kicked four goals before fracturing his left collarbone about ten minutes after the start of the second half and leaving the field.
