Alex Thomson (cinematographer)
Alexander Thomson BSC (12 January 1929 – 14 June 2007) was a British cinematographer. Biography Born in London, England, he was first offered a job by Bert Easey (1901-1973), who was head of cameras at Denham and Pinewood Studios. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for ''Excalibur'' (1981). His other films included '' Year of the Dragon'' (1985), ''Legend'' (1985), ''Labyrinth'' (1986), '' The Krays'' (1990), ''Alien 3'' (1992), ''Cliffhanger'' (1993), '' Demolition Man'' (1993), ''Executive Decision'' (1996) and two of Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare adaptations, ''Hamlet'' (1996) and ''Love's Labour's Lost'' (2000). After beginning his film career in the late 1940s, he went on to serve as a camera operator under cinematographer Nicolas Roeg on twelve films between 1961 and 1966. David Greene (director)
Lucius David Syms-Greene (born Lucius David Syms Brian Lederman; 22 February 1921 – 7 April 2003), known as David Greene, was a British television and film director, and actor. Early life and career David Greene was born in Manchester, England, and originally trained as a journalist, working for the ''Walthamstow Guardian''. In the Second World War he served in the merchant navy but was invalided out in 1941. He became Publicity Manager for the Everyman Theatre in London before deciding to become an actor. After training at RADA, he further perfected his craft at the renowned repertory theatre, the Oxford Playhouse, where he worked under the director Peter Ashmore. The Strange Affair
''The Strange Affair'' is a 1968 British crime drama film directed by David Greene and starring Michael York, Jeremy Kemp and Susan George. Plot Peter Strange (Michael York) is an idealistic young police recruit who gets mixed up with the machinations of the tough and jaded Scotland Yard Detective Sergeant Pierce (Jeremy Kemp). Ephraim Kishon (: August 23, 1924 – January 29, 2005) was a Hungarian-born Israeli author, dramatist, screenwriter, and Academy Award, Oscar-nominated film director. He was one of the most widely read contemporary satire, satirists in Israel, and was also particularly popular in German-speaking countries. ''Ervinka'' is a 1967 Israeli film written and directed by Ephraim Kishon. The film, starring Chaim Topol (best known for his role as Tevye from ''Fiddler on the Roof'') is a comical tale of a con man who falls in love with a police officer. Plot Ervinka is a young man living in Tel Aviv of the 1960s. He does not believe in work, morality, law and order, and settling down. He ekes out a living as a petty con man by charging parking fees to a lot that doesn't belong to him, stealing electricity from his neighbors, eating for free in family events he is not invited to, and extorting money from movie directors by revving up his moped engine near their film sets. Marcus Dillistone
Marcus Dillistone is a British film director. A close friend of Sir John Mills, he directed the BBC/Carlton documentary of Mills' life, ''Sir John Mills' Moving Memories''. Dillistone and Mills first collaborated on Dillistone's film ''The Troop'', which had a Royal Premiere at BAFTA in the presence of The Princess Royal. A copy of the film was requested by a Royal Equerry for screening to The Queen at Sandringham over Christmas. A 35mm film print was donated by Fujifilm, Technicolor, and Glory Film Co. Dillistone directed Mills in his last ever screen appearance, ''Lights 2'', in which he played a tramp. Shot at Pinewood Studios, Mills was lit by veteran cinematographer Jack Cardiff, they had last worked together on 'Scott of The Antarctic'. A camera operator, or depending on the context cameraman or camerawoman, is a professional operator of a film camera or video camera as part of a film crew. The term "cameraman" does not imply that a male is performing the task. In filmmaking, the cinematographer or director of photography (DP or DoP) is sometimes called lighting cameraman or first cameraman.
