Alex Stuart (writer)
Violet Vivian Stuart ( ''née'' Finlay; 2 January 1914 – 18 August 1986) was a British writer from 1953 to 1986. She published under different pen names: her romantic novels as Vivian Stuart, Alex Stuart, Barbara Allen, Fiona Finlay, and Robyn Stuart, her military sagas as V.A. Stuart, and her historical saga as William Stuart Long. In 1960, she was a founder of the Romantic Novelists' Association, along with Denise Robins, Barbara Cartland, and others; she was elected the first chairman. In 1970, she became the first woman to chair Swanwick writers' summer school. Biography Personal life Violet Vivian Finlay was born in Berkshire, England on 2 January 1914. She was the daughter of Alice Kathleen (née Norton) and Sir Campbell Kirkman Finlay, the owner and director of Burmah Oil Company Ltd., whose Scottish family also owned James Finlay and Company Ltd. Alex Stuart (footballer)
Alexander Stuart (born 8 August 1940) is a Scottish former footballer and manager who played as a left-back. Beginning his career in 1958 with Dundee, Stuart went on to spend ten years at Dens Park, winning the Scottish Football League in 1961–62 and gaining a Scottish Cup runners-up medal two years later. In 1969, Stuart moved to city rivals Dundee United but left within the year to become player/manager at Montrose. Stuart spent six years at Links Park. He moved to succeed Ally MacLeod at Premier Division side Ayr United in 1975-76 season. He kept the part-time side in the top flight for two seasons. He had a short, final managerial spell with St Johnstone at the end of the 1970s. Stuart went on to become a sports administrator, working on a project for Dundee and Dundee United to share a youth academy. He is now retired. Adolf Alexander (Alex or Xander) Verrijn Stuart (Rotterdam, 22 October 1923 – Haarlem, 29 October 2004) was a Dutch computer scientist, and the first Professor in computer science at the Leiden University from 1969 tot 1991.G. Biography Alex Verrijn Stuart was born in Rotterdam, where his father was professor in economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. His grandfather was the economist Coenraad Alexander Verrijn Stuart, who in 1899 was the first president of the Statistics Netherlands. Verrijn Stuart received an MA in physics at the Delft University of Technology, and he received a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Afterwards he worked at the operations research department of Royal Dutch Shell for 18 years.
