Alexander Ian Sharp (born 2 February 1989) is an English actor. He is known for originating the role of Christopher Boone in the Broadway production of ''The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time''. After graduating from the Juilliard School in the summer of 2014, he made his Broadway and acting debut in the play ''The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time'' in the autumn. For his role as the autistic teenager Christopher Boone, he was awarded the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Alex Sharp, also known and credited as Alex Sharpe (September 16, 1921 – March 6, 2008) was an American actor, stuntman, and writer, perhaps best known for his work in television western shows such as '' Bonanza'' and '' Gunsmoke''. Early years Sharp was born in Nebraska and was raised in Washington and Colorado, where he learned to break horses. He spent time with the U.S. Cavalry at Fort Riley, and became a bomber gunner in the South Pacific during World War II. Career One of his earliest jobs in 1950 was doubling for Scott Forbes on the film ''Rocky Mountain''. He would again double for Forbes in ''The Adventures of Jim Bowie'' (1956-1958) Stunts in fight scenes were his specialty, and Sharp did at least a half-dozen with Michael Landon on '' Bonanza'', with Sharp doubling for guest stars George Kennedy and Leif Erickson. Alexander John Ellis
Alexander John Ellis, (14 June 1814 – 28 October 1890), was an English mathematician, philologist and early phonetician who also influenced the field of musicology. He changed his name from his father's name, Sharpe, to his mother's maiden name, Ellis, in 1825 as a condition of receiving significant financial support from a relative on his mother's side. He is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery, London. Biography He was born Alexander John Sharpe in Hoxton, Middlesex to a wealthy family. His father, James Birch Sharpe, was a notable artist and physician who was later appointed Esquire of Windlesham. His mother, Ann Ellis, was from a noble background, but it is not known how her family made its fortune. Alexander's brother James Birch Sharpe junior died at the Battle of Inkerman during the Crimean War.
