Alex Moore (wrestler)
Alexander Robert Moore (born August 18, 1997) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler competing in the 86 kg freestyle event. Personal life Moore grew up with the sport of wrestling and has been involved with it from a young age. Moore attended Selwyn House School, where his father was the wrestling coach, Vanier College and Concordia University in Montreal. Career Junior Moore first represented Canada at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, where he finished in 6th place in the 63 kg freestyle event. Moore followed this up with back to back gold medals at the Pan American Junior Championships in 2016 and 2017. Senior Moore's first senior competition came at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia, where Moore finished in fifth place in the 86 event. 2022 World Wrestling Championships
The 2022 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held between 10 and 18 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. The UWW Bureau approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 Senior World Championships. However, due to the restrictions on Russia for hosting World Championships in 2021–2022, Belgrade replaced the former city of Krasnoyarsk as the World Championships host for 2022. For 2023 the World Championships host will be reallocated to Russia. In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from 2022 World Championships. 2022 World Wrestling Championships – Men's Freestyle 86 Kg
The men's freestyle 86 kilograms is a competition featured at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships, and was held in Belgrade, Serbia on 15 and 16 September 2022. This freestyle wrestling competition consists of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists face off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who loses to one of the two finalists moves into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket. Canada At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Canada competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. This was Canada's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. Benoît Huot was the original Chef de Mission. However, after Huot stepped down due to family commitments, 2018 Chef de Mission, Claire Carver-Dias and former sprinter and Commonwealth Games athlete Sam Effah were named as co-Chefs de Mission in April 2022. On July 21, 2022 para-athlete Josh Cassidy and weightlifter Maude Charron were named as flagbearers for the opening ceremony. The 2021 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament was the last wrestling qualification tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The event was held from 6 to 9 May 2021, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Qualification summary A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, Japan. The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018.
