Alex Millar (footballer)
Alexander Millar (21 October 1911 – 28 January 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played as a centre half. Career Born with the surname Urbonis, Millar was a member of North Lanarkshire's Lithuanian immigrant community. After playing with several local Junior teams until the age of 23, he began his senior career with Celtic in 1935, where he was a reserve behind Willie Lyon in the queue for selection; he made five appearances as the club won the 1937–38 Scottish Division One title, but it is doubtful that he would have been presented with a medal. Billy McNeill
William McNeill (2 March 1940 – 22 April 2019) was a Scottish football player and manager. He had a long association with Celtic, spanning more than sixty years as a player, manager and club ambassador. McNeill captained Celtic's 'Lisbon Lions' to their European Cup victory in 1967 and later spent two spells as the club's manager. As a player and manager, he won 31 major trophies with Celtic. A defender, McNeill played for Celtic for his entire senior career, and holds the club record for most appearances, a total of 822 games over 18 seasons. He was captain during their most successful era in the 1960s and 70s. The club won nine consecutive Scottish league championships and thirteen other major domestic trophies in this time, and in 1967 became the first British club to win the European Cup. Willie Thornton
William Thornton MM (3 March 1920 – 26 August 1991) was a Scottish footballer and manager. Thornton's entire senior playing career was spent with Rangers, and Thornton is considered to be one of the greatest players in the club's history. Football career Thornton played for Rangers from 1936 to 1954, then became a manager with first Dundee and then Partick Thistle. Thornton later returned to Rangers as assistant manager to Davie White in the summer of 1968 and was briefly caretaker manager in 1969 after White's dismissal. Thornton then worked as assistant to William Waddell until 1972. The club won the two matches when Thornton was in charge. William McInnes Williamson (12 February 1922 – 2006) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward for Rangers, St Mirren and Stirling Albion. Career Williamson played for local junior clubs Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and Petershill before signing for Rangers in 1941. He served with the Royal Navy as a PE instructor during the Second World War, while also playing for Rangers and as a guest for Manchester City. He became a regular in the Rangers first team in the 1945–46 season. Williamson played and scored in the first Scottish League Cup final, in 1947. He also won two Scottish league championships and two Scottish Cups with Rangers. Williamson scored a goal in both of those Scottish Cup finals, in 1948 and 1949. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. After 1998, the SFL represented levels 2 to 4 of the Scottish football league system. In June 2013, the SFL merged with the SPL to form the Scottish Professional Football League. The SFL was associated with a title sponsor from the 1985–86 season.
