Alex Metric (born Alex Drury, 1981) is a Grammy Award-winning British musician, DJ and producer. Biography Alex Metric has released numerous EPs as a solo artist, and singles as a member of Metroplane and Kuu. He has remixed artists such as Daft Punk, N.E.R.D., Foals, La Roux, Phoenix, Gorillaz Depeche Mode and Bloc Party as well as working as a producer for acts such as Silk City, Dua Lipa, Avicii, Snow Patrol, Muse, Charli XCX, The Infadels and Adam Freeland. Spring Awakening (festival)
Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) is an annual Electronic dance music, electronic dance music (EDM) festival held in Chicago. The festival started at a theater in 2008, moved to Soldier Field in 2012–2015, and to Addams/Medill Park in 2016–2018. In 2019, the festival moved to the Sears Centre Arena, Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the former site of the Poplar Creek Music Theater. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was not held in 2020, and the 2021 event was held in October at Addams/Medill Park. The 2022 festival was scheduled to be held at the United Center on July 8–10, but was subsequently cancelled. History Spring Awakening was founded as a concert series in 2008. The event eventually outgrew the theater, and in 2012 SAMF was turned into a two-day outdoor music festival at Soldier Field by the Chicago-based promoting agency React Presents. Bloc Party
Bloc Party are an English Rock music, rock band, composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, sampler), Russell Lissack (lead guitar, keyboards), Justin Harris (bass guitar, keyboards, saxophones, backing vocals) and Louise Bartle (drums, percussion). Former members Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes left the band in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Their brand of music, whilst rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music. The band was formed at the 1999 Reading and Leeds Festivals, Reading Festival by Okereke and Lissack. They went through a variety of names before settling on Bloc Party in 2003. "Stylo" is the first single from British virtual band Gorillaz's third studio album ''Plastic Beach''. The song features guest vocals from Bobby Womack and Mos Def. The single was released on 26 January 2010. Production Bobby Womack knew nothing about Gorillaz and was initially unsure about the collaboration; however, his granddaughter liked Gorillaz and convinced him to do it. Womack was told to sing whatever was on his mind during the recording of "Stylo". "I was in there for an hour going crazy about love and politics, getting it off my chest", said Womack. After an hour of recording, Womack, a diabetic, started to pass out. He was sat down and given a banana, before waking up minutes later. "Suburban Knights" is the first single from British rock band Hard-Fi's second studio album ''Once Upon a Time in the West''. The physical format of the single was released on 20 August 2007, the digital version was released on 6 August 2007. It reached #7 on 26 August 2007, becoming the band's most successful single in the UK Charts. The song received its first airplay on ''Soccer AM'' on 19 May when the band appeared on the show. Only about 15 seconds of the intro of the song was played however. Later, the single received its first radio play on 20 June, featuring on Zane Lowe's Radio One show. Henry Smithson (born 13 September 1978), best known by his stage name Riton ( ), is an English electronic music DJ and producer from Newcastle upon Tyne. Early life and education Smithson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. The name ''Riton'' is French slang for "Henry". He graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Career After finishing university, Smithson started the Switch Recordings label, upon which he released his first two 12" singles. He began DJing at Newcastle's "Shindig" nightclub. Adam Freeland (born 7 August 1973) is an English record producer and DJ. He is also the owner and creative director of the record label Marine Parade, which has released material by artists including Evil Nine, ILS, Alex Metric and Jape. Born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, he first began DJing in 1991, originally mixing deep house and later drum and bass. Infadels were a London-based indie-electro band signed to the Wall of Sound record label. Infadels were founded in 2003 by Alex Bruford (drums), Matt Gooderson (guitar, programming) and Bnann Watts (vocals), who were joined shortly afterwards by Dead at Thirty founder Richie Vernon (live keys) and Wag Marshall-Page (Bass). Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland.
