Alex Hewit
Alexander G. Hewit (born November 8, 1985) is a retired lacrosse goaltender. He led his high school to three New Jersey state championships and was one of the most sought after high school lacrosse players in the United States. He starred as a member of the Princeton Tigers men's lacrosse team from 2005 through 2008. He was recognized as a three-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American (first team once) and a three-time second team All-Ivy League performer. He was the 2006 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) goaltender of the year and 2008 Princeton co- captain. During his college career, Princeton lacrosse earned an Ivy League championship and two NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship invitations. Goaltender (field Lacrosse)
In field lacrosse, the goaltender (goalie, goalkeeper, or the keeper) is the most important and last line of defense between the opposing offense and the goal. The goaltender's primary roles are to defend the opposing team's shots on goal and to direct the defense. Rules Goaltenders are the only ones on the field who can touch the ball with their hands. However, they are not allowed to pick up or control the ball with their hands. Hand touches are legal only when in the crease. Each team has a goaltender on the field at all times. If the goaltender stops a shot by the opposing team, or picks the ball up any other way, the goaltender has 4 seconds in the crease to pass the ball or run with the ball. The New Jersey Pride were a men's professional field lacrosse team in the Major League Lacrosse formerly based in Piscataway, New Jersey, United States from 2001-2008. Franchise history In 2001, the first year of the league’s existence, the Pride played its games at Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University but TD Bank Park in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey in 2002 to 2003. The 2007 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse tournament was held from May 12 through May 28, 2007. This was the 37th annual Division I NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament. Sixteen NCAA Division I college lacrosse, college men's lacrosse teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament. The 2006 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse tournament was the 36th annual Division I NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament. Sixteen NCAA Division I college men's lacrosse teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiply that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification is used by the NHL since 1965 and the IIHF since 1990. When calculating GAA, overtime goals and time on ice are included, whereas empty net and shootout goals are not. The Cornell Big Red men's lacrosse team represents Cornell University in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse. Hofstra Pride Men's Lacrosse
The Hofstra Pride men's lacrosse team represents Hofstra University in the CAA in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse competition. They play at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, New York. History Hofstra fielded its first varsity men's lacrosse team in 1949, hiring Howdy Myers the following season from Johns Hopkins to take over the program.
