Alex Harris (basketball)
Alexander Cory Harris (born January 30, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played eleven seasons in several European countries. Harris played collegiately for UC Santa Barbara where he was the 2008 Big West Conference co-Player of the Year. College career Harris played high school basketball for St. Joseph Notre Dame (Alameda, California), leading them to a California Division 4 championship as a senior. He joined the University of California at Santa Barbara, playing in the Big West Conference of the NCAA Division I, in 2004. In his junior season in 2006–07, Harris made a leap in his production, raised his scoring average from 8.3 points per game to a Conference 21.1. In his senior season, Harris was named to the preseason All-Big West team and continued his strong play, averaging 20.2 points per game. Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is an annual basketball award given to the Big West Conference's most outstanding player. The conference was formed in 1969 and known as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association until 1988. The award was first given following the 1969–70 season. No player has won the award three times, but there have been eight two-time players of the year. Larry Johnson of UNLV was also the national player of the year in 1990–91, the same season of his second consecutive Big West Player of the Year accolade. Scott Cutley
Scott Adam Cutley (born June 6, 1985) is an American college basketball coach and former professional player who is an assistant coach for the Cal State Northridge men's basketball team. He played college basketball for the Kent State Golden Flashes and Cal State Fullerton Titans. Cutley was selected as the Big West co-Player of the Year with the Titans in 2008. He played professionally in South America. Cutley returned to the Titans as a graduate assistant during the 2021–22 season. The Cal State Fullerton Titans men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents California State University, Fullerton in Fullerton, California, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Big West Conference. History In 1978, the Fullerton men's basketball team, coached by Bobby Dye, made it to the Elite 8 in the 1978 NCAA Division I basketball tournament. They were considered the year's Cinderella story as a #7 seed (out of 8). 2008 Big West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2008 Big West Conference men's basketball tournament took place from March 12–15, 2008 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena in Anaheim, California. The quarterfinals were televised by KVMD, the semifinals were televised by ESPNU, and the Big West Conference Championship Game was televised by ESPN2. Seeds There was a three-way tie for first place during the regular season. UCSB received the #1 seed due to a 3–1 record against Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton. Cal State Northridge received the #2 seed due to a 2–2 record against UCSB and Cal State Fullerton. Format The top two seed receive byes into the semifinals.
