Alex Austin (born May 22, 2001) is an American professional football cornerback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Oregon State. Early years Austin was born and raised in Long Beach, California, where he attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School. College career Austin played at Oregon State for four years and put up 141 tackles, two going for a loss, a sack, four interceptions, 20 pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, and a touchdown. NFL career His career started when the Buffalo Bills drafted Austin with the 252nd pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses.
