Alenka Bratušek
Alenka Bratušek (; born 31 March 1970) is a Slovenian politician. She was Prime Minister of Slovenia from March 2013 until May 2014, the first woman in Slovenia to hold this position. She was president ''pro tempore'' of the Positive Slovenia party from January 2013 until April 2014. On 5 May 2014, Bratušek submitted her resignation as prime minister. Life Bratušek was born in Celje. She studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at the University of Ljubljana. Continuing her studies at the University of Ljubljana, she went on to obtain a master's degree in management at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Before entering politics, she served for six years as head of the Directorate for the State Budget at the Ministry of Finance. In March 2013, an anonymous person criticized Bratušek because she had not cited a source on one page of her master's thesis. 13th Government Of Slovenia
The 13th Government of Slovenia was elected on 13 September 2018 by the 8th National Assembly. It is the first minority government in the history of Slovenia. On 27 January 2020, following the resignation of the Minister of Finance Andrej Bertoncelj, Prime Minister Marjan Šarec announced his resignation. The National Assembly was informed on the same day following which the term of the 13th Government ended. Šarec is the third consecutive and in total fourth Prime Minister to resign, before him Miro Cerar, Alenka Bratušek and Janez Drnovšek resigned as well, the latter due to being elected President of the Republic. Zoran Janković (politician)
Zoran Janković ( sr-cyr, Зоран Јанковић, ; born 1 January 1953) is a Serbian-Slovenian businessman and politician. He came to prominence in 1997 as the president of the Slovenian retail company Mercator. From October 2006 to December 2011, he was mayor of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. In October 2011, he established the Positive Slovenia party, which won the plurality of votes at the early Slovenian 2011 parliamentary election. His function as a mayor ceased on 21 December 2011, when he became a deputy in the National Assembly. After he failed to be elected as the prime minister in the National Assembly, he was re-elected as the mayor of Ljubljana and retook the position on 11 April 2012. Faculty of Social Sciences (Slovene: Fakulteta za družbene vede; FDV) is one of the faculties, comprising the University of Ljubljana. It is located at Kardeljeva ploščad (Bežigrad District, Ljubljana). Freedom Movement (Slovenia)
The Freedom Movement ( sl, Gibanje Svoboda, GS) is a social liberal and green liberal political party. It was founded on 26 January 2022, as the successor of the Party of Green actions ( Z.DEJ). At the January congress, Robert Golob was elected as the party's first president and the party received its new identity and name. In its first parliamentary election, the party placed first, obtaining 41 of the 90 seats in the National Assembly, which is a record for a single party in the history of independent Slovenia. The Party of Alenka Bratušek ( sl, Stranka Alenke Bratušek, SAB) was a political party in Slovenia. The party was founded on 31 May 2014 as the Alliance of Alenka Bratušek (, ZaAB). The party was formed by Alenka Bratušek, who resigned as Prime Minister of Slovenia on 5 May 2014, and other former members of Positive Slovenia. Among the founding members were incumbent MPs Maša Kociper, Jerko Čehovin, Jani Möderndorfer, Maja Dimitrovski, former MP Peter Vilfan, ministers Roman Jakič and Metod Dragonja. Zares – Social Liberals ( sl, Zares – socialno-liberalni) was a social-liberal political party in Slovenia. Its first president was Gregor Golobič, former Secretary General of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia and former close advisor to the late Janez Drnovšek, who had previously abandoned active political involvement due to disagreements with his party. Until October 2011, the party was called Zares - New Politics (''Zares - nova politika''), when the party adopted its current title. Liberal Democracy of Slovenia ( sl, Liberalna demokracija Slovenije, LDS) is a social-liberal political party in Slovenia. Between 1992 and 2004 it was the largest (and ruling) party in the country. In the 2011 Slovenian parliamentary election, it failed to win entry to the Slovenian National Assembly. The party was a member of the Liberal International and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. The LDS dominated Slovenian politics during the first decade following independence. Kranj
Kranj (, german: Krainburg) is the third-largest city in Slovenia, with a population of 37,941 (2020). It is located approximately northwest of Ljubljana. The centre of the City Municipality of Kranj and of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) is a mainly industrial city with significant electronics and rubber industries.
