Alemitu Heroye
Alemitu Heroye Banata (born 9 May 1995) is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner. She was World Junior Champion over 5000 metres in 2014 and placed fourth at the 2015 World Cross Country Championships. Career Alemitu Heroye represented Ethiopia at the 2011 World Youth Championships ( 3000 m), 2012 African Championships (5000 m) and 2012 African Cross Country Championships (junior race), placing in the top five every time but not winning medals. In 2013, she took bronze in the junior race at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, losing to Kenya's Faith Kipyegon and Agnes Jebet Tirop by six seconds; she debuted in the IAAF Diamond League later that year, running the 5000 m in both Shanghai and Paris. Jigjiga
Jijiga (, am, ጅጅጋ, ''Jijiga'') is the capital city of Somali Region, Ethiopia. It became the capital of the Somali Region in 1995 after it was moved from Gode. 2012 African Cross Country Championships
The 2nd African Cross Country Championships was an international cross country running competition for African athletes which was held on 18 March 2012 in Cape Town's Keurboom Park in South Africa. Organised by the Confederation of African Athletics and Athletics South Africa, it was the first time that the competition represented that year's foremost event in the sport, as the IAAF World Cross Country Championships was not held. Twenty-one nations entered athletes into the event and 160 runners participated in the races. There were four championship races held at the event, featuring senior and junior races for men and women. The senior races were won by Kenyan athletes for a second year running, with Clement Langat and Joyce Chepkirui taking the men's and women's titles, respectively. The British Grand Prix, formerly known as the Birmingham Grand Prix, is an annual athletics meeting. Since 2010 it has been a part of the Diamond League series of track and field meets. Two Miles
The 2 mile (10,560 feet or 3,218.688 metres) is a historic running distance. Like the mile run, it is still contested at some invitational meets due its historical chronology in the United States and United Kingdom. It has been largely superseded by the 3000 m (approximately 1.864 miles) and 5000 m, and by the 3200 m in NFHS American high school competitions. The IAAF no longer keeps official world records for this distance; they are called world best instead. The world best for men is 7:58.61 set by Kenyan Daniel Komen in Hechtel, Belgium on 19 July 1997. The women's record is 8:58.58, set by Ethiopian Meseret Defar in Brussels, Belgium on 14 September 2007. Meeting de Paris (formerly known as the Meeting Areva and Meeting Gaz de France) is an annual track and field meeting at the Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris, France. The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings.
