Aleksey Kokel
Alexei Afanasyevich Kokel (1 March 1880 – 4 February 1956) was a Chuvash painter who rose to prominence in Russia and Ukraine during the pre-Soviet and Soviet eras. Biography Alexei Kokel was born into a large family in Tarkhany, Simbirsk Governorate, Russia (now Batyrevsky District, Chuvash Republic). His love for fine art began early on. Alexei would paint different scenes on slate such as local wildlife, his village, or the local church, and would copy illustrations from his school textbooks. In his later youth, he followed his brother's path by attending Simbirsk Chuvash teacher's school. However, he was unable to graduate due to contracting a skeletal form of tuberculosis. In 1902–1903, after many years of treatment, he attended the Drawing School at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Tarkhany
Tarkhany ( rus, Тарха́ны, p=tɐˈrxanɨ) is a Writer's house museum in a Russian estate where the Romantic writer Mikhail Lermontov (1814–1841) spent his childhood and was buried. The late 18th Century–early 19th Century estate is located in the village of Lermontovo (formerly Tarkhany) in the Belinsky District of Penza Oblast. Tarkhany is the main tourist attraction of Penza Oblast. The Chuvash National Museum in Cheboksary, Russia, is a cultural, educational and research center of the Chuvash Republic. Founded in 1921, it is the largest repository of natural, historical, cultural and theological artefacts of the Chuvash people and other ethnic groups. History The Kharkiv Art School was formally established in 1896 by the Kharkiv city government, based on the previous private art school of Maria Raevskaia-Ivanova. Konstantin Apollonovich Savitsky (russian: Константи́н Аполло́нович Сави́цкий; 25 May 1844 — 31 January 1905) was a Russian realist painter born in the city of Taganrog in the village Frankovka or Baronovka, named after former governor Otto Pfeilizer-Frank. Today this area is occupied by the Taganrog Iron and Steel Factory TAGMET. Early life Savitsky's family lived in the building of the Taganrog Gymnasium for Boys, where his father worked as a doctor. In Frankovka the family rented a summer house. Savitsky spent his childhood and youth in Taganrog. He showed an interest for painting in early childhood. Being on the shore of Azov Sea with his parents, he loved to make sketches, and drawing lessons at the Gymnasium were his favorite subject. Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease usually caused by '' Mycobacterium tuberculosis'' (MTB) bacteria. Tuberculosis generally affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body. Most infections show no symptoms, in which case it is known as latent tuberculosis. Around 10% of latent infections progress to active disease which, if left untreated, kill about half of those affected. Typical symptoms of active TB are chronic cough with blood-containing mucus, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. It was historically referred to as consumption due to the weight loss associated with the disease. Infection of other organs can cause a wide range of symptoms.
