Aleksandr Peshkov
Aleksandr Igorevich Peshkov (russian: Александр Игоревич Пешков; born 13 October 1972) is an officer of the Russian Navy. He currently holds the rank of Counter-Admiral (equivalent to Rear-Admiral), and is commander in chief of the Caspian Flotilla. Intent on entering the Soviet Navy, Peshkov's education and training were only completed shortly after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. He nevertheless continued to serve with its successor force, the Russian Navy. A native of Murmansk, Peshkov initially served with the Northern Fleet on surface ships, primarily minesweepers. This began a long attachment to minesweeping forces, and after excellent results in training and exercises, he rose through the ranks to more responsible positions, and by 2001 was chief of staff and deputy commander of one of the fleet's minesweeping formations. Murmansk (Russian: ''Мурманск'' lit. The Nakhimov Naval School () in Saint Petersburg is a military boarding school of the Russian Navy. Overview The Leningrad Nakhimov Naval School was created in accordance with the decree of the Council of People's Commissars on 21 June 1944 and the People's Commissariat for Military and Naval Affairs. The date of publication of the order (23 June), is set as the annual holiday of the school. It was the first Nakhimov Naval School to be formed, with the school being named after admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy Pavel Nakhimov. On 18 September 1944, the first admission to the school took place. In the first academic year, 408 pupils studied at the school. In 1948, the first graduation of cadets took place. Aleksandr Mikhailovich Nosatov (russian: Александр Михайлович Носатов; born 27 March 1963) is an officer of the Russian Navy. He holds the rank of admiral, and is currently serving as First Deputy Commander in Chief of the Navy. Born in Sevastopol, Nosatov's initial service was with the Soviet Navy's Pacific Fleet during the last years of the Soviet Union. He remained in the navy after its formation as a Russian military force, rising through the ranks and serving in a number of posts in the Pacific Fleet. Following studies at the Naval Academy, he took command of his own ship in 2000. Various staff appointments followed, before Nosatov transferred to the Black Sea Fleet as its deputy commander, and then chief of staff, in the early 2010s. Severomorsk (russian: Северомо́рск), known as Vayenga () until April 18, 1951, is a closed town in Murmansk Oblast, Russia. Severomorsk is the main administrative base of the Russian Northern Fleet. The town is located on the coast of the Barents Sea along the Kola Bay northeast of Murmansk, the administrative centre of the oblast, to which it is connected by railway and a motorway. A replenishment oiler or replenishment tanker is a naval auxiliary ship with fuel tanks and dry cargo holds which can supply both fuel and dry stores during underway replenishment (UNREP) at sea. Many countries have used replenishment oilers. The United States Navy's hull classification symbol for this type of ship was AOR. Replenishment oilers are slower and carry fewer dry stores than the U.S. Navy's modern fast combat support ships, which carry the classification AOE. Ropucha-class Landing Ship
The Ropucha class (Polish for ''Toad''), Soviet designation Project 775, is a class of landing ships (large landing ship in Soviet classification) built in Poland for the Soviet Navy. The ships were built in Poland in the Stocznia Północna shipyards in Gdańsk. Designed for beach landings, they can carry a 450-ton cargo. The ships have both bow- and stern-doors for loading and unloading vehicles, and the of vehicle deck stretches the length of the hull. Up to 25 armored personnel carriers can be embarked. While designed for roll-on/roll-off operations, they can also be loaded using dockside cranes. For this purpose there is a long sliding hatch-cover above the bow section for access to the vehicle deck. There are no facilities for helicopters.
