Aleksandr Markin (athlete)
Aleksandr Viktorovich Markin (Russian: Александр Викторович Маркин; born 8 September 1962) is a retired Russian athlete who specialised in the sprint hurdles. He competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics, as well as one outdoor and two indoor World Championships. His personal bests are 13.20 seconds in the 110 metres hurdles (+1.8 m/s, Leningrad 1988) and 7.53 seconds in the 60 metres hurdles 60 metres hurdles is a distance in hurdling which is generally run in indoor competitions. The men's 110 metres hurdles at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea had an entry list of 43 competitors from 31 nations, with six qualifying heats (43 runners), four second-round races (32) and two semifinals (16) before the final (8) took place on Monday September 26, 1988. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Roger Kingdom of the United States, the second man to successfully defend Olympic gold in the event (Lee Calhoun, 1956 and 1960). It was the nation's 17th title in the event.
