Aleksandar Popović (politician)
Aleksandar Popović ( sr-cyr, Александар Поповић, or , born 20 October 1971) is a Serbian politician and university professor. He served as the Minister of Energy and Mining from 2007 to 2008, and as the Minister of Science and Environmental Protection from 2004 to 2007. Before becoming a politician, Popović was a sprinter who competed internationally throughout 1990s. Education Internationally educated, Popović completed elementary school in Belgrade before moving to Moscow where he finished high school. Returning home to complete college, he obtained a degree from University of Belgrade's Faculty of Chemistry. During the mid-1990s he moved abroad again, this time to Tallahassee, in Florida, United States, where in 1996 he earned his MA from Florida State University. Aleksandar Popović (Ub, Serbia, November 2, 1929 — Belgrade, October 9, 1996) was a Serbian writer who authored more than 50 plays and other works, of which the most famous are ''Bela kafa'' and ''Mrešćenje šarana''. Biography Born in Ub, Serbia, Ub to a family with military background, Popović graduated from the gymnasium in his hometown and soon after started to write poetry. In the late 40s he was arrested by the communist authorities and spent five years at Goli Otok. After release he worked a number of poorly paid jobs, only to accept the invitation of Duško Radović to start writing radio dramas for children. His opus includes a number of dramas, comedies, dramas for children, TV dramas, TV and movie scripts. Popović's theatre play ''Mrešćenje šarana'' was banned in Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia. Aleksandar Popović (; born 29 September 1999) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for DAC Dunajská Streda. Club career Partizan After coming through the youth system of Partizan, Popović was loaned to affiliated club Teleoptik in the summer of 2017. He was promoted back to the Partizan first team during the 2018 winter transfer window. After failing to make his official debut for the side, Popović was again loaned to Teleoptik in the summer of 2018. He was recalled back to Partizan in early 2019. On 19 June 2020, Popović made his official debut for Partizan in a 1–0 away loss at Vojvodina in the last round of the COVID-19-shortened 2019–20 Serbian SuperLiga.
