Alejandro Vilca
Alejandro Ariel Vilca (born 5 July 1976) is an Argentine activist, garbage worker, trade unionist and politician, active in the Socialist Workers' Party (PTS). A member of the indigenous Qulla people, Vilca was elected to the provincial legislature of Jujuy Province in 2017 on the Workers' Left Front (FIT) list, which won 18% of the vote. In 2021, he was elected to the National Chamber of Deputies. Early life Vilca was born on 5 July 1976 in San Salvador de Jujuy, capital of Jujuy Province. His family belongs to the Qulla people, one of the many indigenous peoples who inhabit the Argentine Northwest. Argentine Chamber Of Deputies
The Chamber of Deputies ( es, Cámara de Diputados de la Nación), officially the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, is the lower house of the Argentine National Congress ( es, Congreso de la Nación). It is made up of 257 national deputies who are elected in multi-member constituencies corresponding with the territories of the 23 provinces of Argentina (plus the Federal Capital) by party list proportional representation. Elections to the Chamber are held every two years, so that half of its members are up in each election, making it a rare example of staggered elections used in a lower house. The Constitution of Argentina lays out certain attributions that are unique to the Chamber of Deputies. 2011 Argentine General Election
Argentina held national presidential and legislative elections on Sunday, 23 October 2011. Incumbent president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of the Front for Victory won via landslide, with 54.11% of votes against Hermes Binner of Broad Progressive Front, she also secured a second term in office after the Front for Victory won just over half of the seats in the National Congress. The Workers' Party ( es, Partido Obrero, PO) is an Argentine Trotskyist political party. The Frente de Todos (translated as "Everyone's Front") is a coalition of Peronist and Kirchnerist political parties in Argentina formed to support President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Kirchner. Fernández won the 2019 general election with over 48% of the vote, defeating incumbent Mauricio Macri in the first round. El Tribuno
''El Tribuno'' is an Argentine newspaper and media group from Salta Province. Widely criticized for its pro- Peronist tilt, it is the only newspaper in Salta Province, and also publishes a Jujuy Province edition. Founded by Jaime and Ricardo Durán, its initial installations had belonged to ''La Provincia'', the leading daily in Salta for much of the early 20th century. Released on August 21, 1949, ''El Tribuno'' was allied to Peronism, and provided a political counterpart to the UCR-leaning ''El Cívico Intransigente''. Following President Perón's 1955 ouster, the paper was shuttered by the new regime, and sold at auction in 1957 to a consortium led by a local lawyer, Roberto Romero.
