Alejandro Ruiz (actor)
Sergeant Alejandro Renteria Ruiz (June 26, 1923 – November 20, 2009) was a United States Army soldier who received the Medal of Honor, the United States' highest military decoration, for his actions in the Battle of Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands during World War II. Early years Ruiz, a Mexican-American, was born and raised in Loving, New Mexico, and enlisted in the United States Army in the town of Carlsbad, New Mexico upon the outbreak of World War II. He was assigned to the U.S. 27th Infantry Division after completing basic training. Loving, New Mexico
Loving is a village in Eddy County, New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the village population was 1,413. Loving was settled by Swiss immigrants in the 1890s. Geography Loving is located in southeastern Eddy County at (32.285417, -104.096720). U.S. Route 285 passes through the west side of the village, leading northwest to Carlsbad, the county seat, and southeast to Pecos, Texas. The Pecos River flows southwards east of Loving. The 77th Sustainment Brigade is a unit of the United States Army that inherited the lineage of the 77th Infantry Division ("Statue of Liberty"), which served in World War I and World War II.
