Alejandro Cruz Ortiz (May 3, 1921 – March 8, 2007) was a Mexican Lucha Libre, Luchador (professional wrestler), known worldwide as Black Shadow ( es, Sombras). Cruz's Lucha libre#Luchas de Apuestas, mask vs. mask match against El Santo in 1952 is generally considered one of the most important matches in the history of Lucha Libre. Cruz often teamed with Blue Demon, working as a tag team called "Los Hermanos Shadow" (the Shadow Brothers), even though the two were not related. He was nicknamed ''El Hombre de Goma'', translated as ''The Rubber Man'', due to his elasticity and flexibility in the ring. Alejandro "Junior" Cruz Ortiz (January 6, 1938March 17, 1993) was a Puerto Rican political leader, teacher, and coach of Puerto Rico's National Women Softball team. He was mayor of the city of Guaynabo during the 1980s and early 1990s. Biography Alejandro Cruz made his mark in sports as well as politics in Puerto Rico. He served as mayor of the City of Guaynabo for three 4-year terms from 1980 to 1993. In addition to being a mayor, he was president of the Municipal Federation of Mayors, second vice-president of the New Progressive Party, vice president of the local Republican party chapter, and president of Puerto Rico Softball Federation. Cruz was born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. His father was Alejandro Cruz Perez and his mother was Marta Ortiz. At the age of one, his family moved to the Barrio Santa Rosa III in Guaynabo. Alejandro Cruz (born February 10, 1968) is a Mexican former marathoner and civil engineer. He competed during the 1980s to 2000s in the World Marathon Majors. He won the 1988 Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:08:57. At the age of twenty, Cruz's 1988 win made him the youngest man and first Mexican to win the Chicago Marathon. In later Chicago Marathons, Cruz placed fourth in 1994 and did not finish the 1998 edition. Cruz also finished 4th at the 1991 Boston Marathon and 23rd at the 1993 New York City Marathon. At other marathon events, Cruz placed 5th at the 1995 Summer Universiade and 42nd at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics. In overall points, Cruz was first in the 1993 ''Runner's World'' men's rankings based on his 1992 race finishes. Cruz continued to run primarily in North America until his last marathon in 2009.
