Alega
Alega ( sm, Ālega) is a village on the southeast coast of Tutuila Island, American Samoa. One of the island's least populous villages, it is located to the east of Pago Pago Harbor and to the west of Faga'itua Bay. Alega lies between Lauli'i, American Samoa, Lauli'i and Avaio villages, and is home to Alega Village Marine Protected Area. Tisa's Barefoot Bar is also in Alega, which is a bar that also operates a Beach fale, fale sleeping four on Alega Beach. The beach has a secluded character and is removed from the village. Bus services are frequent between Alega and Fagatogo. Tisa's Barefoot Bar, which is located on Alega Beach, is perhaps the most popular bar on Tutuila Island. Tisa's Barefoot Bar offers ecotour activities such as food tastings, umu displays, cultural demonstrations, visits to the caves, hikes to Alega Waterfall and recreational water activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. Lonely Planet is a travel guide book publisher. Founded in Australia in 1973, the company has printed over 150 million books. History Early years Lonely Planet was founded by married couple Maureen and Tony Wheeler. In 1972, they embarked on an overland trip through Europe and Asia to Australia, following the route of the Oxford and Cambridge Far Eastern Expedition. The company name originates from the misheard "lovely planet" in a song written by Matthew Moore. Lonely Planet's first book, ''Across Asia on the Cheap'', had 94 pages; it was written by the couple in their home. Pago Volcano
Pago is a shield volcano in the center of Tutuila Island, the largest island of American Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean. The volcano was formed by subaerial eruptions between 1.54 and 1.28 million years ago. It has been estimated that the volcano was as high as above sea level. Activity on Pago Volcano ended with emplacement of trachyte bodies with ages of 1.03 ± 0.01 Ma. The Pago Volcano caldera was formed 1.27+-0.02 million years ago. The caldera's dimensions are estimated at in length and in width. The southeast part of the caldera makes up Pago Pago Harbor, one of the world's largest natural harbors.
