Alec Waterman
Alec Waterman (born 19 August 1996) is an Australian rules footballer who formerly played for Essendon in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was initially selected at pick 76 as a father son selection by West Coast in the 2014 AFL draft but failed to play a game. After various health and injury issues, including glandular fever and a post-viral fatigue illness, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2016 season. After an impressive 2020 season with WAFL club Claremont, where he kicked the most goals for the season in the league, he was invited to train with Essendon over the 2021 preseason. At the conclusion of the preseason he was signed by Essendon as pre-season supplemental selection. He made his debut for the Bombers in round 3, 2021 against St Kilda. He collected 12 disposals and 2 goals in a huge 75 point win for the club. West Australian Football League
The West Australian Football League (WAFL) is an Australian rules football league based in Perth, Western Australia. The league currently consists of ten teams, which play each other in a 20-round season usually lasting from March to September, with the top five teams playing off in a finals series, culminating in a Grand Final. Jake Waterman (born 6 May 1998) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Jake is the son of dual AFL Premiership defender Chris Waterman. He was drafted by West Coast with their final selection and seventy-seventh overall in the 2016 national draft as a father-son selection. He made his debut in the twenty-nine point loss to at Optus Stadium in the opening round of the 2018 season. Chris Waterman
Chris Waterman (born 19 September 1968) is a former Australian rules football player and coach. Waterman’s playing career started in Rossmoyne’s junior football zone where he was eventually recruited by the East Fremantle Football Club at the age of fifteen. He played in the club’s Colts, Reserves and Senior line-up and finished with a total of 61 senior games. In 1988 Waterman made his AFL debut wearing a West Coast Eagles guernsey, and under the guidance of coaches John Todd and Mick Malthouse, went on to play a total of 177 matches (including 22 AFL finals, 3 Grand Finals and 2 Premierships) for the club and earned "Player Life Member" status. Chris retired in 1998. Infectious mononucleosis (IM, mono), also known as glandular fever, is an infection usually caused by the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV). Most people are infected by the virus as children, when the disease produces few or no symptoms. In young adults, the disease often results in fever, sore throat, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, and tiredness. Most people recover in two to four weeks; however, feeling tired may last for months. The liver or spleen may also become swollen, and in less than one percent of cases splenic rupture may occur. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. Father–son Rule
The father–son rule is a rule that allows clubs preferential recruiting access to the sons of players who have made a major past contribution to the club in Australian rules football, most notably in the Australian Football League. The rule was first established in 1949, and there have been more than ten amendments, most recently the refining of the draft bidding process in 2015. History The father–son rule was established during the 1949 season, allowing a player to be recruited by the club his father had played for, despite being residentially zoned to another club.
