Alec Burgess
Alec Andrews Burgess (2 January 1906 – 20 November 1990) was an English cricketer. Burgess was a right-handed batsman who was a leg break bowler. He was born at Peterborough, Northamptonshire. Burgess made a single first-class appearance for Northamptonshire against Sussex at the Town Ground, Peterborough in the 1929 County Championship. In Northamptonshire's first-innings he was dismissed for 13 by Albert Wensley, while in their second-innings he was dismissed for a single run by Maurice Tate. He later played for Suffolk in the 1934 and 1935 Minor Counties Championship, making three appearances. He died at Waveney, Suffolk on 20 November 1990. Peterborough
Peterborough () is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, east of England. It is the largest part of the City of Peterborough unitary authority district (which covers a larger area than Peterborough itself). It was part of Northamptonshire until 1974, when county boundary change meant the city became part of Cambridgeshire instead. Sussex County Cricket Club
Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. Maurice Tate
Maurice William Tate (30 May 1895 – 18 May 1956) was an English cricketer of the 1920s and 1930s and the leader of England's Test bowling attack for a long time during this period. He was also the first Sussex cricketer to take a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket. The son of Sussex off spinner Fred Tate and nicknamed "Chubby", Maurice began his career for Sussex as a hard-hitting batsman and spin bowler with one match in 1912. He played a few matches in 1913 and 1914, but established himself as a batsman in 1919 by scoring over a thousand runs for the first of eleven consecutive seasons. In the following two years, Tate's batting developed further with a double hundred against Northamptonshire in 1921 representing his highest first-class score. Bert Wensley (24 May 1898 – 17 June 1970) was an English first-class cricketer. In 400 first-class matches, mainly for Sussex from 1922 to 1936, he took 1,135 wickets with his medium pace bowling and scored more than 10,000 runs. He did the double in 1929 and took over 100 wickets on four other occasions.
