Aldyn-ool Sevek
Aldyn-ool Takashovich Sevek ( tyv, Алдын-ooл Севек, russian: Алдын-оол Такашович Севек; October 27, 27 October 1963 - September 11, 11 September 2011) was a master Tuvan throat singing, Tuvan throat singer. Life Sevek was from Mogur Aksi, a remote village in the Tuvan mountains. He was an accomplished master of ''Tuvan throat singing#Khoomei, khöömei'' ( tyv, хөөмей), especially The Dag (mountain) Kargyraa style, for which he is a household name in the world of throat singing. His unique style is instantly recognizable on recordings, and despite many attempts, no-one has been able to successfully reproduce his sound. For a time, he performed with the group Yat-Kha. Sevek won the Grand Prize at the International Symposium of Throat-Singing. Sevek died of Throat Cancer, throat cancer on 11 September 2011. Yat-Kha
Yat-Kha is a band from Tuva, led by vocalist/guitarist Albert Kuvezin. Their music is a mixture of Tuvan traditional music and rock, featuring Kuvezin's distinctive ''kargyraa'' throat singing style, the '' kanzat kargyraa''. Biography Yat-Kha was founded in Moscow in 1991, as a collaborative project between Kuvezin and Russian avant-garde, electronic composer Ivan Sokolovsky. The project blended traditional Tuvan folk music with post-modern rhythms and electronic effects. Kuvezin and Sokolovsky toured and played festivals, and eventually took the name “Yat-Kha,” which refers to a type of small, Central Asian zither similar to the Mongolian ''yatga'' and the Chinese ''guzheng'', which Kuvezin plays in addition to the guitar. In 1993, they released a self-titled album on the General Records label. Throat Cancer
Head and neck cancer develops from tissues in the lip and oral cavity (mouth), larynx (throat), salivary glands, nose, sinuses or the skin of the face. The most common types of head and neck cancers occur in the lip, mouth, and larynx. Symptoms predominantly include a sore that does not heal or a change in the voice. Some may experience a sore throat that does not go away. Throat Singing
Throat singing refers to several vocal practices found in different cultures around the world. The most distinctive feature of such vocal practices is to be associated to some type of guttural voice, that contrasts with the most common types of voices employed in singing, which are usually represented by chest ( modal) and head (light, or falsetto) registers. Also, throat singing is often described as producing the sensation of more than one pitch at a time, i.e., the listener perceives two or more distinct musical notes, while the singer is producing a single vocalization. Throat singing, therefore, consists of a wide range of singing techniques that originally belong to particular cultures and seem to share some sounding characteristics that make them especially noticeable by other cultures and users of mainstream singing styles.
