Aldo Locatelli
Aldo Locatelli ( Bergamo, August 18, 1915 – Porto Alegre, September 3, 1962) was an Italian painter. His most important works are the frescos and panels in churches and public buildings of Rio Grande do Sul. Locatelli was born in northern Italy and was interested in art from an early age. In 1948 he went to Brazil at the invitation of Don Antonio Zattera, bishop of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, to paint the Cathedral San Francisco de Paula de Pelotas. At that time he was working in the cathedral of Genoa, Italy. The frescoes in the Cathedral of Pelotas and stations of the Cross in the Church of San Pelegrini in Caxias do Sul, which took ten years to complete, are considered his greatest works. His last work was the painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was unfinished because of his death. Our Lady Of Caravaggio
Our Lady of Caravaggio is a reported apparition of the Virgin Mary at Caravaggio, Italy in 1432. History The apparition was reported by Giovannette, daughter of Pietr Vaccli and wife of Francesco Varoli. She said that on 26 May 1432, Mary appeared in a field in Caravaggio, in Northern Italy, in the region of Milan; and said that her son was angry, that for him people should fast on Fridays and for her they should celebrate Saturdays after vespers. Our Lady announced peace to Giovannette in her family, among the neighboring warring states and reconciliation between the Church in the East and West, through the Council of Florence (1436—1445). As memento of her presence she left the imprint of her feet on the stone where she stood. A spring of water sprung forth from under the stone. The Coronation of the Virgin or Coronation of Mary is a subject in Christian art, especially popular in Italy in the 13th to 15th centuries, but continuing in popularity until the 18th century and beyond. Christ, sometimes accompanied by God the Father and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, places a crown on the head of Mary as Queen of Heaven.
