Alcino Gomes da Silva, often known as Alcino Silva (born September 30, 1990), is a canoe racing, sprint canoer from São Tomé and Príncipe who competed in the late 2000s. Silva represented his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed in two kayak events and became the first Santomean athlete to compete at the Olympics in any sport other than track. In the Canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's K-1 500 metres, men's K-1 500 metres, Silva finished sixth in his heat with a time of 1:58.178. Although this was the second-slowest time, both in his heat and in the entire competition, it was enough to advance to the semifinals. The men's K-1 500 metres competition in canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in Beijing. The K-1 event is raced in single-person kayaks. This would be the last time the event would take place at the Summer Olympics. The men's K-1 1000 metres competition in canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in Beijing on 22 August. The K-1 event is raced in single-person kayaks. Competition consists of three rounds: the heats, the semifinals, and the final. All boats compete in the heats. The top finisher in each of the three heats advances directly to the final, while the next six finishers (places 2 through 7) in each heat move on to the semifinals.
