Alcheringa (festival)
Alcheringa, also known as "Alcher", is the annual cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. The festival was started in 1996 by a group of students of IIT Guwahati. Spread over 3 days and 4 nights, Alcheringa is conducted towards the end of January every year. The 27th edition of Alcherninga is going to be held from 02nd February 2023 to 05th February 2023, witnessing 80+ events. The festival features one of India's biggest rock band competitions, Rock-o-Phonix. The latest edition of Alcheringa was held with limited participation and events pertaining to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. History Alcheringa derives its etymology from Australian aboriginal mythology and translates to "The Eternal Dreamtime." The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is a public technical university established by the Government of India, located in Amingaon area, North Guwahati city, in the state of Assam in India. Korpiklaani (Finnish: ) is a Finnish folk metal band from Lahti who was formerly known as Shamaani Duo and Shaman. History Shamaani Duo While other folk metal bands began with metal before adding folk music, Korpiklaani started with folk music before turning metal. The roots of Korpiklaani can be traced back to a Sámi folk music group under the name of "Shamaani Duo", an "in house restaurant band" created by Jonne Järvelä in 1993. An album of folk music (''Hunka Lunka'') was released under this name before Järvelä relocated and "Shamaani Duo" morphed into "Shaman". Shujaat Khan
Shujaat Husain Khan (born 19 May 1960) is one of the greatest North Indian musicians and ''sitar'' players of his generation. He belongs to the Imdadkhani ''gharana'' school of music. Ne Obliviscaris (Latin for "forget not"; Clan Campbell motto) are a five-piece Australian progressive metal band from Melbourne. ''Frantic Jack'' are an Irish rock band formed in Edenderry, County Offaly. Since its creation, the band's line-up has included Daragh Fitzgerald (vocals), Mark Kelly (guitar), Pauric Hurst (bass), and James Kearney (keys).
